Yeah man, I thought I was gonna come on the board and we all were going to celebrate this win together. Instead I get this b$$$×(] and whining! It's sickening and it killed my good mood! So sick of this! When you’re up 19 at the under 16 TV TO, you CAN NOT be in a nailbiter. It just can’t happen. Bile and Pickett literally willed us to this win with barely any help...from the backcourt, the bench, or Pat. And, to be fair, the officiating was an abomination. Did anyone else catch the fact that twice...TWICE in the second half Xavier shot FTs after our offensive fouls? WTF? That’s like the amateurish shiit you see from HS kids who ref rec league games and don’t know the rules. Gutting out wins after blowing big (like 19 points big) leads happens all the time in college basketball. It gives fans ulcers but it is pretty common.

I think it's hard for us watching on TV but our bigs have become a force in the BE. Okay so they don't dominate like a Patrick or Alonzo but they have learned how to control the paint, not make stupid fouls (I'm talking to you Govan) and not put the ball on the floor. Just look at how they took Butler/Xavier/Creighton/DePaul out of their games. I think if we had better guards who could feed them Q and Iggy could easily average combined 20+ points a game. We're still not an NCAA or BE championship team but I think we see an NIT bid this year (will there be an NIT?) and next year we are ranked nationally. NIT is happening, but only 16 teams this year. The entire tournament will be in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Smokeyjack all you do is complain, complain, complain! Not true AT all. I’m just not a rose-colored glasses guy. Boys played really hard tonight. But they have to do better on non-negotiable simple stuff like inbounds passes and offensive rebounding. X killed us on offensive glass in second half. Look, it was a good win, and the team plays hard...very hard, which was by miles my biggest grievance with JT3, so I can live with some of Pat’s blunders if they sell out. But that should have been a 20-point coast. Officials, fatigue, poor guard play, plenty of GU blunders and what seemed like 40 X ORebounds in final 15 made it closer than it should have been. Fantastic stuff from Pickett and Bile (though the last play with best FT shooter in BE three feet away - WTF?). Sorry EwingEra, it just oesn’t have to be that hard.

Everything is not going to be perfect all the time. Once again, including the refs. I still can’t believe they awarded X FTs twice in the second half on our over the back calls on the offensive end. That’s literally dead wrong. Hope GU submits that tape to BE office, because OConnell and Co should be shot for that performance. Xavier had been called for 1 foul at the under 8, and they were playing roller derby defense.

Carter on the floor for Xavier allowed Pickett or Bile to guard Freemantle and Wahab to guard Carter. Steele made the adjustment and it forced Wahab back on Freemantle. Led to their run. Tough call for Ewing since height has been a huge advantage all game to pull Wahab and go small. I wrote this during the under 4 timeout. We came out of that break without Wahab or Tim on court and went small. It was the adjustment to the Xavier adjustment. We hear so much on here about how the staff never makes adjustments - so I think it's important to point out that they do, and this isn't a new phenomenon. It doesn't always work - but the narrative I've heard here several times is unfounded.

Great game! We will cause problems in the BE tournament. Bile was the player of the game tonight. Excellent job both offensively and defensively.

It's not a good idea to bring in two players who haven't played all game at endgame. Ball-handler or no. I'm glad we won. But we should have won that easily and we made it hard. Lots of basketball is won when you make it hard on yourself. The key is to get the win. Very, very few teams win convincingly and play well consistently. This was an excellent win against a favored opponent. It can be both an excellent win and poorly executed down the stretch. We should not be running pick and roll with Blair often, if ever. But certainly not over and over as it fails when our centers are 7-8 and haven't seen the ball in 10 minutes. The whole team got cocky and stopped playing as a team, stopped doing what they were doing when they got up. I was watching with three other people and everyone saw the team relax, start trying to get theirs. We all called the regression. But to watch Blair try to take over as if one on one play is his skill set? That was a terrible decision, over and over. And I am not an anti-Blair guy. But not only did we not score, but in the first half, we had a true team offense, a true team vibe. And that died when we decided to stop moving the ball. We are lucky they didn't hit their shots down the stretch; lucky the officials gave us a couple of calls.

Woah wait, did the OTHER team actually just throw it to no-one. Thats a Hoya move, they cant do that Had to quote myself 12 TOs tonight. Not amazing but pretty solid, especially if you consider we had 4 or 5 in the first 4 minutes. Need to continue to take care of the ball if we want to end the year strong. Also in regards to rebounds, the one possession where X got 4 boards really killed our rebounding margin.

This was the best Pickett has played. Happy for him. Pickett was my POTG. Came up big when needed. Was our best defensive player.

Ewing took a big off because Freemantle starting hitting threes.
Since we weren't going to dish it down to Wahab, who was 6-7 at the time, he needed to come off. Now why we hadn't been throwing it into Wahab for the previous 5-10 minutes is uncertain to me. Or why Ighoefe, after a strong first half, missed the second ... I dunno that, either.
But if you have an old school big against a new school big ... you either punish them down low or you take them off. So ... it's half right? But someone will have to tell me why Blair pick and rolls were our poison of choice.
Blair ended 3-13 from the field.

Not sure if Blair running the PnR was necessarily the poison of choice for Pat (or at least as often as it was run). At times it felt like Jahvon was playing his own game out there...maybe that was the lesson that was trying to be taught. We will need Blair if we want to end the season better then 0-2, hopefully he trusts his teammates more and keeps the ball moving. Unfortunately even when he came in after missing a game and not starting his last home game, he still looked like he was playing at "Blair speed".

Patrick is playing to win.
