Would think the main debate re devaluing GU degree is the proliferation of marginal master's programs. I get that a few are very good, like Security Studies but many are not. There is also a draw of resources away from undergrad education. I get that these make money, but there is a cost in terms negative effect on quality of undergrad programs + general reputation + resource drain
Yes and no-- there are a lot of master's programs between the Graduate School (inclusive of SFS and McCourt) and the School of Continuing Studies, but there is also no evidence they adversely affect the quality of the undergraduate curriculum in any way. A number of the graduate programs were pruned back in the Tim Healy years, as he considered them weak sauce academically.
