Someone needs to start an Aminu thread just off that tweet. Show him some love to come here.

Huge addition to give us some momentum on the recruiting trail. Beard and Jordan are an excellent start to a crucial 2021 class. Jordan could’ve easily to blown up in the summer circuit, Kansas coming in recently for him shows how talented he is. I think he’ll be a star in the blue and gray, congrats and welcome Jordan!

I love his hard nose attitude. Easy to see this kid is fearless and has to win. Great pick up! Through some rough spots the last few years, our coaching staff keeps grinding and the effort is paying off. Go Hoyas!!!

I get the position-less basketball trend, but this quote leaves me confused.
I’m mostly a point guard but if it gets to a serious situation, then point god,” he said. “[I’ll] be everywhere, attack everywhere, basically just kill,” he added of his planned role at Georgetown. “Score, play defense, get everybody involved.” ...
Does he project as a primary ball-handler or as yet another player with the ball skills to handle if needed. He is described as a SG in some of the media reports. He ducked playing with Posh Alexander but wants to play with Malachi Smith...
I’m still trying to make sense of things.

Really nice pickup for a player with ridiculous upside in Jordan Riley.
I'm not a rankings/stars guy so I really don't pay any attention to what that industry has to say. I watch tons of video and if lucky enough watch players in person. I haven't seen Riley in person but watched several of his full game videos. After doing so I can say a few things:
1. Jordan Riley's best basketball is way ahead of him. He is an outstanding athlete with a great basketball Frame and Length. He has potential to be special but he is just really starting to develop and learning the nuances of the game. Coach Ewing's earliest challenges will be to keep that Dawg in Jordan running hot so he can reach all of his potential.
2. If their was an EYBL, Jordan would have SHINED in that environment. His game is perfectly suited to thrive in that kind of environment in the same way that Khalil Whitney's did two summers ago and so many others do every spring/summer.
3. Another reason I love this addition is while Riley has NBA potential, but he's a multi year prospect and he knows it. He doesn't come across a someone who's looking to have a coffee break at a school until the draft. He comes across as someone who will put in the work until he's ready.
4. The combination of Jordan Riley and Tyler Beard to start the 2021 class is bonkers in terms of potential. Both are Plus Plus Athletes at their positions. Both are versatile and willing defenders. I am one of the few people that loved what Coach Ewing and the staff did to complete a 2020 class that they really didn't start until December. I think the 2020 class is being severely overlooked in terms of its versatility and upside. Dante Harris is really being slept on. Sibley getting a chance to play alongside his clone in Jamorko Pickett will be monumental in his longer-term development. Holloway at the four will surprise people with his physicality & versatility. The Swiss army knife potential of Clark is highly intriguing. Berger a coaches son at 6'4" is better than people realized. He was overshadowed on a ridiculous high school team that Westtown had last season. He also committed to UPenn early so the so called scouts stopped evaluating him and his potential development. You add Beard and Riley to that 2020 group and a couple more pin pointed targets and the Hoyas will be cooking with fish grease.

Alexander and Smith are different players. Alexander is more score with the ball in his hands and breakdown a team. Smith has a more traditional PG mindset and tries to get people involved but can score in bunches when needed.

“He will only get better” is a hackneyed phrase which is applied inaccurately as often as not. But, in my opinion, it is merited in the case of Jordan Riley. His upside looks huge.

Aaron Bowen athleticism with more of a Jabril trawick mentality. Perfect comp....I saw his highlight and thought Hamidou Diallo athletism and Brilly physicality.... Watched the clips that were posted. Loved that almost every time he has a hard finish in the paint, he’s glaring the defender down or crowing the inbounds. It doesn’t come across as posing, just instinctual nastiness (in a good way). We need that.

Riley is an athlete over skills guy. That's why he's not ranked higher. If his skills catch up to his athleticism, we got a player. If not, he'll look good in highlights but struggle to score effectively in the halfcourt. He's different than a lot of Hoya commits over recent years. We have taken a lot of low upside guys. Riley has high upside, but he's raw and has a long way to go. But I prefer this over a lot of the guys we have been recruiting.

Not too long ago I would have agreed. But it doesn't quite come across as preening the way some players due. And I'm just desperate for a sign of hope.

And I'm just desperate for a sign of hope. He's showing out as he wants - w/ personal license/autonomy to do so. Not everyone wants to or should subscribe to a stoic asceticism. This tangentially revisits a dynamic that I've been privy to where an older caucasian male acquaintance who was/is a devoted aficionado of all things Blues related (Elmore James, Howlin' Wolf, Son House, etc.), but was quick to dismiss derisively anything germane to rap/hip-hop. As if he were eminently qualified to dictate what narrative and/or orientation the African-American musical community ought to be engaged in as opposed to what they wanted to do.
