6'5" Seems like he can play both guard spots, maybe a little 3 in a smaller lineup, and shoot it (37.5% from 3 on 4 FGA/game so far -- very solid). More experience, outside shooting, and size in this backcourt is a good thing. Article here says he wanted to play somewhere and "have the chance to have the ball in his hands more". Harris, Carey, and Blair probably combine for 80+ mins...? dailygazette.com/article/2020/07/10/carey-leaving-siena-men-s-basketball

38% from 3 is a nice add. 6'5 and experienced. Hopefully he has the ability to play the 3 and hold his own on the defensive end. Doesn't look like he'll be a net positive on the glass, but there are a ton of minutes waiting for him if he can be even average to above average there.

Carey had 14 points and 6 assists against us in 2017 (playing for Mt. St. Mary's). We won the game 102-68, so it was likely a pretty free-flowing, fast paced game.

I like this get a lot. Carey and play both on and off the ball. Last season he was a complementary piece to Jalen Pickett and played his role pretty well. Carey can be a secondary playmaker and will be able to space the floor and create for himself. He was able to lead the team when Pickett was resting and can really shoot it. I expect him to start and will expect him to play both guard positions a lot.

Is he available to play immediately? Who knows the answer? He’s immediately eligible after he graduates this summer, which is why I put “grad transfer” in the title of the thread.

well, we have secured a boatload of big guards and small forwards. I dont know what '21-'22 recruiting needs are now except it looks like we need 4s and another point guard.

Really like this addition, good size, good shooter, and he’s local... The second year of eligibility is the icing on the cake.
According to the commitment video he had HM interest from USC, Creighton and Auburn. Congrats and welcome Don!!!

As I said on the main page, the thing that makes this a good move in my opinion is what it does for roster balance. Really like this add over another freshman or 1 year rental.

He slides nicely into the scholarship vacated by McClung, as they're functionally in the same class. He will probably end up picking up a lot of those minutes too. I like the experience of a J. Harris, Blair, Carey guard rotation, with the winner of the D. Harris/Berger competition playing some spot minutes (or perhaps Clark logging a few minutes at shooting guard, if he emerges). It feels like a much better situation than what we were looking at yesterday.
Even though we have a lot of freshmen, 5 of our top 6 guys will be in at least their 4th year of college, so it's a nice veteran core and we're really only relying on freshmen for 7th/8th man type duty. We need to find a way to mold all these disparate parts into a competitive team. Hoping everyone is in the right headspace and it comes together.

In a year like this, it'd be great to have plenty of practice time, intra-squad scrimmages, and a lengthy non-conference schedule to work out the kinks and get them all used to playing together. Unfortunately, this is probably NOT a year that will offer plenty of those chances. Either way, welcome to the Hilltop, Don!
