Ask him again in three-months... Agreed. If it projects that this will be his role for the next 2-3 years he'll likely transfer, he's a tweener that needs to be in the right situation (imo) to get the most out of his career. Undersized and not a leaper but has a great body for banging and he's pretty skilled so it will be interesting to see how his career plays out. I wish him the best, sometimes the best recruits are the ones you don't get as it opens the door for another because I believe Billingsley has a higher ceiling.

He can be as happy as he wants with his role or lack thereof but at the end of the day he will have to play minutes in order to build his resume. Only special players can sit (due to injury for example) in college and make it in the pros. Unfortunately for him, I dont see him getting many more minutes next year, at least at UM. But like I said before, good luck to him, I would love for him to be a Hoya if he wanted to be a Hoya. But honestly I dont see how he is benefitting from being at UM over Georgetown no matter what he says.

It must be very difficult for any of the local schools to get these local talented players. You got the kid who plays with Iowa, you got Dickinson and all the other Dematha and Paul IV players that have come through over the years. It's sad to see that not only is Georgetown not getting these great players but it seems none of the local schools are. A lot of local recruiting is about coaching relationships and Ewing and Turgeon have each been lax at these ties, or at least haven't built them to the degree that other schools have, giving Villanova, Duke, Michigan State etc. ample opportunities to sign players. Put another way, what do these names have in common? Naji Marshall, E.Roosevelt Saddiq Bey, Sidwell Friends Brandon Slater, Paul VI Chris Lykes, Gonzaga Justin Moore, DeMatha All five were on All-Met teams over the last four years and GU either lost or passed over. And in 2020, with eight open slots, Georgetown did not sign one local senior, unless you want to count Victor Muresan. High school coaches remember things like that. That said, I've been confounded for years why George Washington doesn't go after every second and third team All-Met that Georgetown and Maryland would skip over and build some local brand awareness in the process. They've got just two local kids on the 20-21 roster, a roster which has lost three players in just a week. www.midmajormadness.com/2020/12/29/22204416/george-washington-colonials-transfers-maceo-jack-jameer-nelson-jr-jamion-christianGarza of Iowa was a recruit that III failed to bring in. Already committed by the time Ewing was hired. The same could be said of Marshall. The same could be said of Lykes. Georgetown under Ewing was in the running for Bey but lost out to Villavova, a program as successful as any in the nation over the past five plus years. No shame in that. and btw no one thought Bey would end up that good that quickly, not even the Villanova staff. Not sure how close Ewing came with Moore or Slater but he has been trying to recruit WCAC players since he got the gig. TWill was supposed to be his breakthrough but...alas. As for Hunter Ewing didn't go after him understandably considering that for the previous class he brought in three centers, including Wahab. And in Turgeon's defense the man did bring in plenty equivalent talent (based on rankings) including some local guys. He can't be faulted if not all of the guys he gets don't turn out as good. And it's not like his teams' have enough scholarship space to bring in every local recruit.

I watched last nights game. This is going to sound dumb and meaningless but...I’ll say it anyway (like always)...I was looking for him on the bench all night. He looked engaged and happy. Celebrating with all his teammates. Doesn’t mean anything but based on body language that ship has sailed. This is how it should be, showing support to your teammates even if you aren't playing.

Ask him again in three-months... Maybe but then ask Kobe Clark the same thing here...he has been nothing but supportive to teammates and a constant cheerleader and yet w/minimal talent ahead of him he barely sees the floor...

While I understand your point I think those 2 situations are very different.

Does he play? I don’t see him in the box score for the Maryland game.

Does he play? I don’t see him in the box score for the Maryland game. From the few Michigan games I have seen I think he is the 9th or 10th guy, and behind some pretty good players. I did see him play the other day when the game was out of hand and Michigan was getting blown out by Minnesota. He actually played OK, he was aggressive and looked the part for the minutes he got, although it was garbage time and the game was not in question. I would think he expected to see more minutes when he committed to Michigan

There is a rack of high profile guys coming in behind him too. Maybe he just wanted to leave DC and it wasn't about minutes.

The game that I saw him play was early in the season, he got early time and played well. He didn't do anything spectacular but he didn't do anything that would say he wasn't ready for 5-10mins....

They bring 4 kids 6’6 and above two of which are 5 star forwards.

They bring 4 kids 6’6 and above two of which are 5 star forwards. It is hard far any player, at most schools, who is outside of the top 8 players to get much playing time on a consistent basis. I don't know anything about the Williams kid and what type of person he is and maybe he is just putting his head down, working hard and trying to earn some minutes on the team and is hoping his opportunity will come at some point. The issue these days with many of the highly rated recruits is that they are not overly patient waiting for their chance at playing time. They are typically used to playing a lot and being a main focus on the teams they play on and not playing is a difficult adjustment. If sounds like Michigan has a highly ranked recruiting class coming in next year also, so I guess we will see how patient Williams is at the end of this season.

He didn’t go to college to sit for four years, but that’s what may happen.

I'm not certain anyone can really know except Williams and his family whether he is or not. Most HoyaTalkers see basketball players in a very narrow context and kudos to the young man if he has found a place where he is truly happy, regardless of basketball and court time. Maybe he sees greater horizons for himself?.
