How do you know it was a lie? The coaches might have wanted to keep them out, and the players may have lobbied to play and won. Well the tweet is still up, no correction tweet was made and players are playing therefore the tweet looks like a lie. So you think they purposely deceived folks? They knew the kids were going to play, and decided to make up a story saying they wouldn't? C'mon man....

Well the tweet is still up, no correction tweet was made and players are playing therefore the tweet looks like a lie. So 3 out of 13 players on the Kenner roster decide to play (against the coaches’ preferences, but clearly with their okay), and that makes it a lie? I think making sure people weren’t rearranging their schedules too see Hoyas who most likely weren’t going to be there was a much better call. Even if no one turned out to be almost none instead.

Well, actually 5 of 13 (Akinjo, Wagner, LeBlanc, Pickett and reportedly Wilson) but your point remains valid.

So the one time the team was somewhat transparent it turned out to be a lie. Just when I thought they were turning the corner. Maybe there is more to the story. Maybe the tweet was the coaches’ wishes but the players asked to follow through on their commitment to the team. Perhaps the coaches accepted their request. Everything doesn’t have to be so negative.

The team put out bad info and chose not to correct or the coaches made a decision and let the players overrule them. I’m not sure which is worse. As I said I totally understood the decision as Kenner is way less important than the teams success. I was also glad that the team showed some transparency in letting us know. The same way they out that tweet out they could’ve put out an update tweet. I guess not everyone is sick of the lack of transparency like I am. I thought most were but I guess I was wrong.

I doubt we will have the normal game summaries because I’m assuming the guys that would normally do them didn’t go since no Hoyas were going to play. Now I am intrigued as to how the ones that played did while others didn’t. There is no rhyme to the reason that I can see such as veterans did not incoming guys. Maybe we now know the most persuasive guys on the team. Or is it the biggest complainers? Are some guys more injury prone? Will we ever know???

Idk I don't think it's as big a deal as you're trying to make it. Like JWP said, everything doesn’t have to be so negative.

jwp91 and Yaboy... I totally get your points and you are right. Nonetheless, issuing a corrected tweet would not have been all that difficult. Doesn't mean anything nefarious went on, but communicating accurately is also important.
As for the team prepping for the Bahamas... that is definitely important. The timing of a pre-season "foreign" trip is fortuitous. Hoyas are blending lots of new talent with a young, exciting core. Real, quality depth. More experience than typical in three of the new guys - Omer, Allen and Alexander. That should speed up the coalescing. OK -- I'll say it. I am hoping against hope to see our young Hoyas BEAT Duke at MSG in November!
Remember 2006? And the year Greg Monroe got tossed while sitting on the bench? Didn't say a word? At Cameron? Nothing could be a more pleasing than an early season upset of a leading blue blood at MSG in NYC. I believe this crew has it in them to get it done - and to show Cole what he's missing out on!

I think most of us can recognize that either the tweet when up on bad information or something changed. I also just think most of us don’t get so upset over a meaningless tweet. I can’t imagine a reason to have intentionally deceived, so why be so upset? There are better things to care about.

HOYA SAXASure, and I wouldn't have said anything if that was what the complaint was. Instead we got, they're lying, and the kids are running the show because some of them played this weekend. Most likely the organizers of Kenner lobbied, the kids lobbied, and the staff said it was optional if you want to play. That's why some did, and some didn't. It's really small stuff imo...

If this team was upfront and transparent all the time sure this could be overlooked. As we all know they are one of the least transparent teams in the country and as a fan that sucks. This is just another example of that which is why I called them out. Making a corrected tweet would’ve took less than a minute. As for the overrule it just seems odd. I am assuming some thought went into making the decision that led to the tweet. The fact that they made a tweet was a huge step in the right direction. Then in less than a day they were overruled. I get that some on here will side with the team no matter what they do because that is the type of fan they choose to be and that is fine. They did it as the JT3 era showed the cracks and was tumbling to the ground. I call things out when I see them. They aren’t always negative but in this case it was. When things finally turn around and we get back to national prominence I think there will be less negativity around here.
