Neither Sami nor Cathilyn advance in the women's 800m Today Sami is running at the USATF U20 track meet in the 1500m in Miramar, FL. Sami soundly wins what seems to have been a tactical 1500m! Congratulations to her!

Umm... if these times are correct, Sami also would have been very competitive in the men's 1500m as well... Not sure what happened there.

So apparently the leaders in the men's race split 60-82-71-51(300m, on pace for a 68 last 400m). That is incredibly slow for a last lap off such a tactical pace. I don't know what conditions were like at racetime, but the 800m, which was run ~20 minutes earlier was won in 1:50, which is pretty standard for a USAJr/U20 meet.

Those times had me scratching my head. Even for a full mile it would have been rather slow for that kind of competition.
But congratulations to Sami!
