In addition to the rebounding issues (good god, can anyone box out?) and complete lack of interior defense, there were two other alarming things. One was the complete lack of transition defense. Harvard was pushing the ball even after makes and we didn't seem to have any desire to get back and stop ball. The other were the absolutely god awful offensive "sets" we ran after we went up 5 at 54-49. Seemed like we had no clue what we wanted to do and rushed ourselves for 5-6 possessions in a row. The 30 foot Akinjo 3, the Kaleb 3, the baseline fadeaways from Kobe... errr... Mourning that had no chance whatsoever. That was easily the turning point of the game. Jessie did shoot better from the perimeter in the 2nd half, but he was in home run trot mode all game on both ends. Just can't have that if you're trying to beat a team that clearly was hustling for 40 minutes. Not sure why the AD felt the need to sell so many tickets to Harvard fans, but I guess a quick buck is more important than creating a full-out home court advantage. Team made some strides in some areas this year, but a lot of the question marks surrounding this team in Year 1 weren't resolved in Year 2. Here's to hoping for a productive offseason both roster wise and staff wise. Very well said, the last few words in particular. The NIT may have rules about the number or percentage of tickets that have to be made available to the other team.

We played down to the opposition and didn’t impose our will. Typical GU since JT3... I think we will have one more seaon of this until it is Pat’s full roster. Next year the narrative can’t be be things are on the upswing and we have a future. By year 3 all the goodwill and the learning curve should be out the window. Real expectations and accountability starts tonight in my book... We had a good year?, played strong...fell apart at the end in a lot of early games. We played players that needed a chance, an opportunity. They gave their best but it wasnt good enough!! I'm waiting for one more bonafide great recruit, with or without stars. Lets go Hoyas. I hope the team takes an international trip this summer to bond and sort things out. BTW Jagan Mosley improved over the course of the season; and I'm waiting to see what Grayson Carter can really do!!

Yikes! Close that place down or remodel it! Prior to JT3's era GU won 23 straight in McD and winners of 42 of 45 back to 1979. My eye test was not deceiving me. That misplaced arrogant attitude under JT3 to play to the opposition’s level has brought us here.

This had every indication of a coaching loss. Physically, we were the better team. We had an advantage with Jesse that was sometimes exploited and sometimes not. And the sometimes not cost us the game. Less Mac more Jagan. The tempo was not adjusted to the opponent. The pathetic final play is almost an afterthought. I know, we live and die with PE, but we gave up 71 at McDonough and lost. When you're playing the Ivy League at home, personnel is not the issue. Two very good points. First, why does our "all-BE" center take 9 of his 15 shots from three point line, when there was no one who could match up with him inside? Is that on the coach or the player? Something tells me it is not a simple answer. Let's just say it's clear Ewing had reached his limit with our center this season. Second, Mac was not under control tonight, I can't kill him for missing the 2 wide open threes, misses happen, but he made many poor decisions. Jagan would have made more sense in many of those moments. Because he’s softer than burrata cheese. It’s been obvious for months that Ewing doesn’t like Govan. And probably vice versa. It’s been a bad marriage from the beginning. It was never going to work and it hasn’t. I hope Jessie is successful in wherever this game takes him next but I am so goddamn happy I never have to watch him again.

At a certain point the Ewing PR machine needs to stop rolling out Stan and Jeff Van Gundy and NY Knick beatwriters to tell the public what a great coach Pat is and let his on court product tell the story. Did this happen tonight? I didn’t see game.

Tonight there was a full screen graphic with a paragraph quote by Stan Van Gundy lauding Ewing's coaching ability and assuring the viewer that Ewing was a great hire. It is the 3rd or 4th game this year that I have seen something like this (Jeff Van Gundy, and NY Post beatwriters Jon Rothstein and Peter Vaccaro are other "sources"), which tells me it is a coordinated public relations effort. It is like reading the back of a book jacket of a mediocre new book.

I understand the frustration, I am in agreement with everyone, but what did we expect tonight? This is exactly how this season and this senior class should come to an end. I am not going to go into detail or name names anymore, but out-rebounded by Harvard? - that is embarrassing. No matter what anyone says, the freshmen had to defer to the seniors this season, and let's be honest, it was awkward. Looking toward next season, I am interested to see how the personality of this team changes. I honestly think Govan was a slight net negative to the team this season, despite being our “best player.” It was a very weird situation. Nice to see the last of the classically soft JT3 style players. Jagan isn’t in that mold - I think he will provide good leadership next season. All that said, Ewing didn’t acquit himself well down the stretch and never found a way to motivate Govan. His handling of Mourning was perplexing. But again - weird situation. I like our roster next season, and coach needs to get a lot better.

The problem with this quote is that no one knows how to put a body on anybody. They watch the shot go up without moving and don't move until after it hits the rim. There is absolutely 0 evidence that this team has been schooled to box out. It's not enough to just continuously yell "rebound" and hope for the best. From 1 through 5, star player to the last guy on the bench, Pat needs to teach them how. Should a college coach have to teach guys who have been playing for 10-15 years how to rebound? At this level its about effort, not defensive rebounding positioning.

I loveee James and Mac but both are the kind of guys to attack the ball handler before getting back on D. I assume the Harvard contingent was a mandatory away team # if seats. If McD were bigger, there would be less of them. Cant wait til we have a big that looks like hes giving 100% when he is, rather then living on the court at 75%. To next year!

I remember him hitting the first 3 in the second half and looking like he had to drag himself back down the floor. Had been on the court no more than 90 seconds.

At this level its about effort, not defensive rebounding positioning. I agree they should already know to do it, but teaching it shouldn't take years. It's not like tightening up someone's handle or turning them into a 40% 3 point shooter. If our team lacks fundamentals, I expect our staff to correct the issue. That's still their responsibility.

I'm getting weary of this Jesse bashing--at least for tonight. A really convenient target, I suppose. Meanwhile he puts up 25 while the bench combined does 12 in 47 minutes. Add that to 0 in 21 from Jagan and 5-15 from Mac. That and the fact that a well-prepared Big East team has no business losing to an Ivy--even a good one--at home. But let's pile on Jesse. After all, he's leaving.

Deep breath everyone. You gotta give PE 3 years. FIRST YEAR, terrible, as expected. SECOND YEAR, improved, as anticipated. THIRD YEAR, program turnaround, as projected. Look what we accomplished with basically 3 freshmen this year. Next year we will have all the things we lacked this year: big man who can not only shoot 3's but also score in the paint and play defense, another big man who can protect the rim, a small forward who can score off the dribble, and two other monster bigs who I'm sure PE will have waiting on the bench to spell the starters. Plus we will have older, wiser, and maybe stronger Mackinjo - the best backcourt in the BE plus a real senior leader in Mosley. And anything we get from Pickett and Blair will be gravy. HEY NCHOYA94, I'm predicting 24 wins next year, 12-6 in the BE and a tie for first, BET championship, and a 3 seed in the NCAA. I expect you to hold me to it.

The team was absolutely horrible tonight. Just couldn't believe it. Govan had 4 rebounds to what I saw which is beyond embarrassing. Mac was really off, our defense was terrible and we went approximately an hour without scoring an FG or at least that's what it felt like. Embarrassing.

We have posts slamming Jesse for his man driving right by him.but excusing Leblanc for net helping. At the same time, when players drive right past their man and Govan helps with no success stopping the shot, these same posters blame Govan again. We lost today because we scored only 68 points and that ain't on Govan.

We were fortunate to be playing UMES in that game but we did not win any other game when we scored so few points. Also, there are currently 18 completed college basketball games tonight. Anyone want to guess how many were won by teams who scored 68 points or less?
