Watching Paul White, healthy and playing well for Oregon, is kind of making me sick. I can't stop thinking about that recruiting class. We would've had so much talent from 2016-2018 if everything worked out. Obviously I'm dwelling on the past. Oh well. Just had that same thought. Would love to travel just for a moment to that alternate universe where that class worked out like we (or at least I) thought it would. But there's no mystery as to what White's issues were. He just got injured badly. One point to note.....we as fans crucify players whose form dips when, in fact, there may be an injury. We basically run them out of town. Collectively, we allow very little room for players to develop and improve and to recover from injuries that they experience. That is on us.

Noah Dickerson sighting. Forgot about that dude, at one time a Georgetown commit, if i recall correctly. He’s having a very good game against Utah State right now.

A simple way to determine if we are "improved". Would any player from last year's team start on next year's team? MD?

Hard to really call Oregon a Cinderella considering their resources and recruits. Same with Florida.
Wofford and Buffalo are potential Cinderella's in the 2nd round but they were the higher ranked team in the 1st round. So that leaves Murray State and UC Irvine as the only true Cinderella's this year.
I really don't like the NET rankings and how power teams like Ohio State, Oregon and Florida can slip in under the guise of a Cinderella team.

Look, I was willing to take my lumps a bit on this one for a) forgetting the smiley; and b) saying something likely to annoy a reasonable number of people who viewed 9-9 in a vacuum as "improvement" in the team (BTW, others have addressed this with regard to our strikingly similar KenPom ranks). But that doesn't mean I really need to hear BS like the comment immediately above this one. In some ways, it's undeserving of a response, but in the interest of dialogue, let me start one by requesting that the author advance some or any evidence that I have had an "agenda" "to take down the basketball program and the Thompson's." And a mild apology would work too. Sorry to others for something that's OT in the thread. So you're saying you don't want to get rid of the Thompson's from the Georgetown's basketball program? Yes or No. It will be kind of nice.

Watching liberty win makes me wonder how many different teams have won a tournament game since we last won one? How many different teams have made the sweet sixteen since we last made it? Watching the tournament is the most depressing sort of fun.

Some things never change. Such as Ben Howland using his time outs way too quickly. No way Mississippi State should have lost that game. I'm also irked over Cincinnati losing to an Iowa team that was in freefall.
On the other hand, I do have a new favorite player - that barrel-chested Liberty kid who looks like he weighs about 350. I watched him run circles around UCLA, and he did it again tonight.

Watching the tournament is the most depressing sort of fun. Too many man. If the streak doesn't end next year, I'm going to be very disappointed, barring a significant change. But next year's team ain't a joke. The freshmen will be working hard and will be twice as good. They're not missing the tourney again.

UNC losing. I hope they lose. UNC won....but we need UNC surviving because they are the only team that can beat Puke....the lesser of two evils!!!!

I thought we had. I distinctly remember feeling disappointed when he accepted the Iowa offer, even though I understood we might not have offered him the type of playing time he sought. (Oh. How things change).

Iowa is not taking into consideration that everyone not associated with Georgetown picked them to finish 9th....we finished tied for 3rd with 3 frosh and 1 soph as 4/5 of our starting 5 for the majority of the season....you can argue the amount of "improvement" but there is no arguing we "improved".... While it's great we finished "tied for 3rd," that's a little less meaningful when you tie with 3 other teams, essentially meaning that 4 teams "tied" for the 3rd-6th spots. One more loss and we would've been tied for 7th. So, yes, let's celebrate the improvement in our record and our "tied for 3rd" record but let's not put too much emphasis on that when it's simply not all that meaningful. You’re trying way to hard to fit reality into your weak logic.

Unfortunately, our fan base is also made up of a bunch of people who have deluded themselves into believing the opinion of our fan base has no material effect on a potential recruit’s or current players’ mindset. Just the type of person who has never had to be accountable for their actions so they don’t understand the gravity of their behavior. And then they’re quick to call you silly for thinking we all live and breath in simila circles. In all, not really too surprising that it would come from this fan base.
