If St. John's stinks this year Mullen has to go. They now have some serious fire power.

Certainly a great addition, but it doesn't move the needle as much as it would if he were added to a lineup like ours. They definitely have the best 1-3 talent in the league, and yet they could still finish anywhere from 1 to 8 in conference. Mullin... I'm assuming anything short of a top half of the BE finish w/ an NCAA appearance gets Mullin fired on the spot. Which -- other than our own success -- is certainly what I'll be rooting for most this season in the Big East. Maybe we can orchestrate an Omer (+ immed elig) for Heron trade.

If CBB is a guards/wings game like the majority of folks say that it is, then having the best 1 thru 3 moves the needle a lot.. Actually, St.John’s probably has the best 1 thru 4 in Ponds, Heron, Simons & Clark.. I do agree that Mullin needs to easily make the tourney this season..

I think they already had the best backcourt -- depth-wise, if not exactly starter by starter. Adding Heron doesn't help them as much as adding a legit big man would. Clark is good, but he's a chucker too. He needs to move his game back inside on the offensive end to accommodate. His play is probably the difference between a good & great season. Keita's a stiff. With only Clark, Keita, and Roberts (FR) inside, Jessie has to dominate those games.

Let's not act like adding a guy that would've been a NBA draft pick this year doesn't greatly improve their roster. As for their front court it may not be deep but neither is ours and their guards/wings are on another level for next year. St. John's just went from should make the tournament to Top 20 team unless Mullin is totally incompetent.

If the Figueroa kid is as good as has been talked about their best line-up could be Ponds, Heron, Simons, Figueroa and Clark Brunson was Nova's best post presence last season...

Brunson was Nova's best post presence last season... Brunson was just a crafty guard who was a great post up guy. With so few that do, that's always a mismatch. You gotta use that. But yeah, effective inside scoring is more of a luxury these days at all levels. You still need to defend at the rim and control the defensive glass, though. Nothing does that more effectively than height - which they're severely lacking. They were dead last on the defensive boards last year and 9th in off reb. That won't improve, so basically they have to be last year's Nova on offense from the 1-4 spots. That's a tall order. I'm not saying they won't be successful. They SHOULD be a tourney team now, but i also wouldn't be tremendously surprised if they finished 6th in conference.

Excellent news. Perfect fit, as each conference has 10 teams, and these are consistently the two conferences that put the most teams in the tournament by proportion. Would like to see Hoyas open a series with Maryland, but otherwise I think this is a much better match than what BE has (had?) with the B10.

Also needed as there is some debate on wether the Gavitt Games with the Big 10 will be continued after the current contract expires.
