One thing - ok, one of the MANY things -- I like about Mac and James, both kids are gym rats and work, work, work. I think LeBlanc does too. Is Shannon that type? even if he and others aren't, when the best kids on the team are constantly working their tails off to get better, it's harder not to jump on the train with them.
Shooting can be improved. Working with the coaching staff, and spending hours in the gym will do that for you. A week from now we will know if he wants to be a Hoya or not.

My big question for this recruit is the jumper. It is nowhere near Big East ready. Starting wings in the Big East generally need to be a credible threat from 3. Everything else checks the boxes. I haven't seen Alexander recently, but I think this is true for Gardner as well... Shannon looks like he has all the tools to be a plus defender, and some playmaking ability on the wing. Like you said above, jumper isn't reliable right now, and his form needs some work imo. If he can become consistent he seems to have all the other tools to be successful, if he works. Sounds like another case for our secret weapon on the bench, Coach Wallace...!

We can teach him how to shoot! His ability to slash, drive, and finish are impressive to say the least. Would love to have him!

Agreed....at the same time the samething could have been said about Jabril or Josh hart out of high school.

He doesn't need to start next year...akinjo is 1, Mac is 2, Pickett is 3, LeBlanc is 4, yurt7 is 5. He would be perfect for us coming off the bench next year and eventually starting as he improves

We would be very lucky to get Shannon at this stage, and he would certainly fill a need and have an opportunity to earn ~15-20 bench minutes per game if he plays well out of the box. We lose Greg on the wing, and his ability to hit the 3 and stretch a defense is a nice weapon off the bench. Ewing will likely use a tighter rotation next year with 4 senior departures (Trey, Greg, Kaleb, and Jessie). The top freshman wing coming in has a nice opportunity for minutes.

Depending on how the rest of the ‘19 recruiting goes, I’m thinking that with more talent, we will see more hockey line substitutions than this year.

And more fullcourt pressure defense, especially with rim protectors at the back.

Top-60 wing Terrence Shannon had remained vocal about staying patient with the recruiting process this winter and is set on a group that consists of Florida State, DePaul, Georgetown, Illinois and Texas Tech. There has been a lot of talk about one of the home-state programs, DePaul and Illinois, being his eventual landing spot. Florida State had gained a ton of traction this fall, too, and Georgetown has long been viewed as a dark horse in his recruitment. Despite all of that, it looks as if Texas Tech has taken the pole position for him. There is still no timeline for a commitment, and while the Red Raiders could wrap this up in the coming weeks, his remaining finalists continue to pursue him. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/twitter-tuesday-washington-indiana-duke-terrence-shannon

Someone on Facebook saying that he saw James Akinjo and Kirby at last night's game. I think you're talking about Terrance Williams' game, not Terrence Shannon's game.

Hate to say it, but that Texas Tech article makes it seem like if our team was performing better he would be ours. Seems like a recruit who is going with the hot team right now...
If we keep growing the way we are growing these recruits will fall to us

Not the expert on this, but I don't think there would be any issue with James taking in a relatively big high school game. He probably would not be permitted to reach out to the player at that game in an attempt to recruit him, although if the recruit reached out to him with questions about Georgetown I think that's ok. With regard to Shannon and Texas Tech being the favorite, there's some talk that their coach, Beard, might be a candidate for the UCLA job. The Arizona job will likely open in a few weeks too and he might get a look there as well. Have to think Shannon will wait until the carousel finishes before he commits.

Anything new on Shannon and his decision? A little over a week ago it sounded like he was getting close to picking school and I have not seen anything since. He is an interesting prospect who seemed to like Georgetown in the interviews he was giving.

No updates yet. In that interview he sounded like he was supposed to commit next week. My thought process was he was guaranteed to Texas Tech since he had posted on his insta story about them not too long ago and a couple other things I saw around twitter. I wonder if Baugh going to Memphis over TT has effected his decision at all either positively or negatively.
