Georgetown: "(Patrick Ewing) told me that I should be more of a scorer there. I would have the ball in my hands and that I would do whatever I could do to help them win. He says I would be their guy."

Whoever lands Terrence Shannon Jr.: A high flying four-star lefty from Chicago who is taking a prep year at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG, Shannon is in his first year of truly focusing on basketball. A former football player, that mentality shows on the floor with the way he attacks and seems to love physical contact. His skill level is still evolving, but this is a guy who works hard to make plays and most coaches will take the good that comes with that. He's got a top five of DePaul, Florida State, Georgetown, Illinois and Texas Tech (had an assistant in earlier in the week) and he's seen each of them. Arizona State and Miami are among those trying to get involved but he made it pretty clear that it will take a pretty big effort to knock out any of the five that he's visited. He's not a finished product by any means, but there simply aren't many players left with his upside and he should make whichever school lands him quite happy over the course of the next three or four years.

Terrence Shannon, Jr. and Lester Quinones are two of the better available players left in the class of 2019. The post-grad guards from IMG Post-Grad combined for 38 points in their team’s 87-82 win over Monteverde CBD. They combined for five made three-pointers in the second half and made enough plays to open up the gap just enough to walk away with the win. Both players are high-major targets and have very active recruitments. It is easy to see why. Both guys bring good college-ready skill to the table - Shannon with backcourt versatility and toughness while Quinones is a dead-eye shooter on the wing. hoopseen.com/news/event/201902/lessons-learned-friday-arsrescue-rooter-national-hoopfest-tampa

Would be great if we could get both Shannon and Quinones as a combo but seems like Lester has cooled on the Hoyas. Just keep playing well and maybe the outlook will change.

Wow. Put that same kid on a poster twice. Gimme gimme. Plays with an attitude and is obviously a high flyer. Him with Mackinjo running in the open floor would be dangerous.

I hope the staff can close the deal on this young man. He plays with a swagger and aggressiveness that Coach Ewing seems to want his players to have. Have not seen a lot of highlights of him making jump shots/3 pointers but hopefully he also has some range to go along with the athleticism. He seems to fit the mold of the type of player the program wants to build around.

Yes .. subscribe and you will too! Not a chance. I'll wait until someone posts it here. But thanks for the advice. No one here likes revealing content by Ron Bailey, guy works super hard and deserves every penny he gets in subscriptions. That said, I imagine if it was something ground breaking, someone would be talking about it.

Ron busts his hump to provide Hoya news. Most fans here respect his work and don’t post any of his scoops. He’s earned that respect.

Name: Terrence Shannon 247Sports Composite Ranking: No. 83 There aren't many better athletes on the wing than Shannon. The native of Chicago, who at one time was a commitment to DePaul, has had a very good post-graduate year at IMG Academy, and continues to be the focus of a major recruiting battle. His perimeter skills need to continue to improve, but Shannon has all the size and athleticism that a high-major coach could want, and he has made big strides with his game over the last 18 months. Currently Shannon has a top five of DePaul, Florida State, Texas Tech, Georgetown and Illinois. While no one school has emerged completely, a recent visit to Texas Tech has been key, and then also DePaul remains very much in the mix. Look for Shannon to make a decision in the near future, and for this recruitment to come to an end before most of the others on this list. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/ContentGallery/What-is-the-latest-on-the-recruitments-of-the-top-uncommitted-prospects-hailing-from-the-Midwest-129340395/#129340395_4

Interestingly, Ron Bailey posted this interview on YouTube a couple of days ago. No paywall for this one...

I guess we will know next week? I am very impressed with this kids athleticism. Just what we need.

My big question for this recruit is the jumper. It is nowhere near Big East ready. Starting wings in the Big East generally need to be a credible threat from 3. Everything else checks the boxes.

I haven't seen Alexander recently, but I think this is true for Gardner as well... Shannon looks like he has all the tools to be a plus defender, and some playmaking ability on the wing. Like you said above, jumper isn't reliable right now, and his form needs some work imo. If he can become consistent he seems to have all the other tools to be successful, if he works.
