...Or that we have a commitment from another wing (or two, being extremely optimistic)...because otherwise it would seem that we could have convinced him to come for an OV in the next few weeks...fingers crossed...

Ledlum Gardner Shannon
Hopefully we get one wrapped up pretty quick. Gardner has a visit to Xavier this weekend. Shannon was gonna announce his decision on Nov 9th but that is on hold until further notice not for sure on Ledlum just yet.

Worth monitoring Gultekin if Buzz Williams to A&M is "done" as Zags and others are reporting. They had Anthony Harris too, who I liked before he first committed but who is less of a need and who never really seemed that interested in us the first time around...

Virginia Tech played one helluva game last night. They left it all on the court. Impressive coaching and disciplined pkay.

Interested to see who they bring in. Have to think Gultekin will open back up, and the Hoyas should definitely throw the hat on the table.

Will be good chance for Gultekin to team up with YurtSeven.

I think and hope that we can do better...not a knock on Gultekin who I think is a pretty good player...I just think we need an impact player with size at the SG position...a knockdown 3 pt shooter with a complete game...

Maybe, but it feels like we were on a ton of wings in the 2019 class and whiffed on all of them. It's possible that the carousel or the grad transfer market yields something better and that Patrick is able to pull some spring magic like he did last year with Akinjo. But I don't feel a ton of confidence that we can "do better" given how many wings we've missed on already in this class. "A knockdown 3 point shooter with a complete game" doesn't grow on trees, and I expect if any comes open in spring they'll be tough to land. I think Gultekin is at least worth a look, and probably has more potential than his ranking indicates. Landing Alexander probably diminished the need to add another wing in the spring (Gardner, Gultekin, etc.) but there's still a case for bringing in a freshman wing with length and shooting ability. I'm also not 100% convinced that we've only got 1 more scholarship to use--need to see if we have any "unplanned" departures ourselves. If we do, I'd be more inclined to take a shot at a guy like this.

I think the Italian player is visiting in May. He can stroke it and has a fundamentally sound game.

Released today from his LOI to VT. VT insider thinks he is going to end up in College Station with Buzz. Would like to see Georgetown reach out, he's a good player that I think would fit in our system.

How you gonna compete with Lubbock when you've already lost to Blacksburg?

How you gonna compete with Lubbock when you've already lost to Blacksburg? What makes you or anyone believe the staff lost Gultekin to Virginia Tech? It's very possible the staff didn't push hard for the young man because they had others (Galen Alexander, Myron Gardner, Chris Ledlum to name a few) at his position higher on their recruiting board...

I'm not saying that the staff may not have pushed hard (or at all) for him. I just think it's rather clear that he committed to Virginia Tech because of one individual coach, and when that one individual coach left Virginia Tech, his decommitment was likely due to his relationship with that particular coach...who is now a head coach at another Division I school. And if Georgetown did not push hard on recruiting him, why would he now forgive that relative lack-of-interest and consider Georgetown now?

And if Georgetown did not push hard on recruiting him, why would he now forgive that relative lack-of-interest and consider Georgetown now? Your original statement implied that the Georgetown staff and Washington D.C. lost Gultekin to the Virginia Tech staff and Blacksburg. My comment was a push back on that specific narrative by stating the we have no idea how hard the staff pursued him or how truly open and receptive to the staff's interest. To my knowledge Gultekin didn't take an OV to Georgetown. Was that because the staff wasn't that ingested or because Gultekin wasn't interested or because he's local and wasn't necessary for him to visit officially to make an informed decision. We don't know if that was the staff's decision or Gultekin's. It was thought by some pundits that if the Georgetown staff had pushed hard for Gultekin, he was their's to lose. From an outsiders perspective, it looks like the staff valued Ledlum and Gardner more then Only the staff or Gultekin know the full truth...
