Really?...must be something in the water down there in Memphis all of a sudden...maybe its unfair, but I've felt like Quinones has been looking for the best offer for a long time...has the feel of LSU to me...time will tell I guess.

Penny landed pretty much a perfect class. Granted I’m pretty high on Quinones and Jeffries as great long term college players.

...
Wiseman, Ellis, Lester, Jeffries, Dandridge, Tucker, Baugh. And potentially one more 5-star? SMH

Memphis is absolutely on fire right now... I still contend that Penny's greed is leading to roster construction issues. Last time I checked there's only one basketball and now you have a lot of players on the roster with 1 & done goals/desires and a very inexperienced coaching staff particularly in managing players, their parents, and their "entourages" who have a vested interest in them getting to the Association ASAP. I really don't think this going to go as well as many of the media and people on here believe it's going to go. Both USC and Kansas entered the last two seasons with bloated rosters of highly "ranked" players and both squads severely under performed expectations. Time will tell....

However, it's not the worst problem to have. Much preferable to the opposite one.

Yeah Penny is hot and people are completely forgetting about Baugh...I think he will be the best of the '19 recruits....but admittedly, I haven't seen Boogie....

Who’s the 1&D besides Wiseman? You could argue if Tucker comes he would have his eye on the NBA. Boogie is undersized and isn’t considered a 1&D. What Penny is doing is recruiting perfectly in that sweet spot of not 1&D but really good players. Then throw in maybe the best player in the class and possibly one if the best grad transfers. Will they fit? Who knows? Can Penny coach them up? Who knows? I don’t know how anyone can knock this class so far though. This is what a fast rebuild looks like.

Definitively will be very interesting to keep an eye on... What's their class rank now?

H4E I agree but you better get them early before hierarchies are established.... Hierarchies will eventually be formed but team chemistry isn't a given. Especially in situations where a couple players feel as if they should be starting/playing more minutes or have a bigger role. There is a recruiting rule coaches typically follow, don't recruit more then five freshman per class. If your bringing in more then five players, mix up the classes. Bring in some transfers,JUCO, fifth year free agents. Having six, seven, or more freshmen leads to roster/chemistry/team issues...

It makes a lot of sense when you lay it out like that but, by the same token, if you can get the talent, how do you say no? Especially if a few of the guys aren't 1 and done, the growing pains may very well be worth it. I'd imagine that he'll figure out pretty fast who reacts by working harder and who reacts by tapping out, no?

True, but then you get multiple players upset about playing time/role etc. leading to chemistry issues and eventually transfers and distractions for the team...

Let’s be honest. We’d be doing cartwheels if we landed Menphis’ incoming class. Talent trumps all and there is no quicker way to rebuild then to bring in heaps of top talent. Will it work out for every single guy coming in? No. But it doesn’t even at Duke. In the end I’d be very surprised if this isn’t a Top 15 team in short order.

Recruiting is everything. Pat seems to get it. Different programs have different tools at their disposal.

AAC is looking strong for next year. Beating SMU would help our RPI (or whatever metric).
