Just went and rubbed my Duke alum co-worker's face in it. Had the response I expected:
"Are you kidding me? He sucks! What an idiot!"

Did he graduate in his 3 years? I mean, its pretty obvious he's no longer wanted at Duke by anyone because of the emergence of McRoberts but I'm surprised he wasn't smart enough to ride the bench for a 4th year if he didn't yet get his degree.... If he hasn't yet graduated and stayed in the draft, then yea thats a really boneheaded move, as the guy would be lucky to make an NBDL roster.

Hey, let's not jump down Shav's throat too quickly. Maybe there's a team out there that needs a first-rate human victory trophy.

Um, I hope people on this board are not acting like a duke degree has some sort of value. I might use it if I was out of paper towels or TP, but otherwise...not so much.

Thought Duke was a better school that Gtown? There's high comedy...transcendent comedy...and then there's posts like that. Whoa nelly, I can't even see the screen I'm tearing up so badly from the laughter. Let me find a paper towel to clean up the coffee I just blew out my nose....there, that's better. Whew...deep breaths. Nothing like jokes at the expense of NJ State-Durham Campus.

Thought Duke was a better school that Gtown? It depends on who you ask or what list of college rankings you look at, as I've seen Duke higher than GU and vice versa in different rankings. I think hoyalove was just expressing some Duke/ACC hate because of the way Duke basketball is constantly praised by ESPN, but thats no reason to insult Duke academically. They're a school with a good reputation just as Georgetown is and a degree from Duke will open up many doors. I would've said the same thing about Randolph though even if he weren't at Duke and were at Syracuse or UConn or Louisville or anything like that. A college degree opens up a lot more doors to someone, even if it isn't from a top ranked school. So I assume hoyaloves post was in jest.

Thought Duke was a better school that Gtown? Nothing like jokes at the expense of NJ State-Durham Campus. The list grows.... UMCP U Con SUcks and now NJ State-Durham Campus (could this somehow be modified to Rutgers-Durham or something like that?)

Is NJ State-Durham Campus abbreviated NJSD, or NJSDC?

My prior post was completely serious. In the interest of full disclosure, let me divulge a few pertinent facts:
1. I am a UNC grad and I'm currently working on a second degree from my alma mater.
2. I have hated Duke with a passionate hatred since 1989. If that year doesn't mean anything to you, perhaps it's best if you don't look into it. Oh, the pain! Say it ain't so, Charles and Alonzo!
3. I once insisted that my father cancell our family subscription to Sports Illustrated b/c it had Wojo on the cover. He complied. To this day, I refuse to purchase or subsrcribe to that magazine, which should be above the type of ESPN nonsense that surrounds Duke and had no reason to put a player who was not among the 30 best players in the nation on its cover.
4. I live in the Triangle area and at times have ventured onto the Duke campus. I was there for the '03 game and screamed my voice hoarse, much to the amazement and horror of the docile upper-level fans in Cameron. I cheered until the final horn and succeeded in being quite excited yet completely respectful (no cursing, negative remarks, etc).
5. UNC football is my favorite sport after Gtown basketball (not close), but other than that and maybe Carolina lacrosse and baseball, I pretty much hate the ACC.
Having said that, I would rather give up my BA and one year of law school and start over at UDC or MK before I would ever go to Duke. Have people on this message board been to Durham? On the whole it is a nasty, worthless place. The girls (if you can call them that) at Duke are beastly and if there is any "fun" to be had, it is with freaskshow dorks and mostly consists of dungeons and dragons tournaments. Moreover, their lofty rankings are more the result of good PR and brown-nosing than any real achievement. The notion that a Duke degree is in any way comparable to say UNC, Gtown, UVA, etc, is laughable.
But that's just my $0.02.

Looks like Jersey's got a new protege...by the end of the year he'll be squaring off against thebin, easyed or one of the other right leaning posters in some sort of totem challenge for the right to join Jersey's beret-sporting entourage.

I nominate hoyalove4ever to the position of Protector of the Realm. Also, I can vouche for the reprehensibility of Durham...it's right behind Bridgeport, CT on the short list of the few places I am embarassed to have gotten laid in. I feel so dirty...so, so dirty.
