Nice opportunity for Grayson Carter to play in front of a hometown crowd as a sophomore. Loved how Dean Smith used to do this. Maybe we can get a Cal-Berkeley on the schedule for Akinjo? LSU or Tulane for LeBlanc?

A step up is something we will take. Bring 'em along, but bring 'em along slowly and carefully. You have to know the horses you have in the stable.

Very winnable game, but also a step up from all of our OOC games last year other than cuse. Good addition.

It's too bad Akoy won't be playing for SMU this season.

Nice opportunity for Grayson Carter to play in front of a hometown crowd as a sophomore. If so, it'd better be on a weekend. Driving from Denton to Dallas is the same distance as from Washington to downtown Baltimore, and with only slightly better traffic. Will be interesting if Georgetown forces SMU's hand to play at 20,000 seat American Airlines Center instead of Moody Coliseum, which seats 7,000 and had the same design as Cameron Indoor Stadium before a recent renovation. SMU averaged 6,660 last year and wouldn't bring much more than that to a larger arena.

Jarrey Foster will be SMU's best player next season, he's the one guy that can make this game interesting. He declared for the NBA draft without and agent and decided to return.

Considering Rodney Bullock's parents came from Hampton, VA to all of the Providence games in DC throughout his career, it wouldn't be surprising if Carter's family and friends didn't mind the drive from Denton to Dallas even on a weekday.

Hey we might not be the last team to announce their schedule each year. That would be a nice change as well...

So far, while not dramatic, these are significant upgrades, particularly when you look at the new quadrant system for NCAA tourney selection.
Last year, the OOC schedule had - Quadrant 1: 0 games - Quadrant 2: 1 game (Cuse) - Quadrant 3: 1 game (@richmond) - Quadrant 4: 9 games
This year’s schedule so far (with the usual caveat that these are last year’s numbers and we don’t know how Jamaica matchups will turn out) looks like:
- Quadrant 1: 1 game (@cuse) - Quadrant 2: 0 games - Quadrant 3: 4 games (@illinois, SMU, 2 tourney games) - Quadrant 4: 3 games (Richmond, 2 tourney games)
Not to mention that for RPI purposes, we’ll have 2 road games and 2-3 neutral site games, compared to just 1 road game last year.

I’d like to see one more game against a sure-fire tournament level team. It’s a solid slate so far but other than Syracuse there isn’t a top level team. Need to give ourself multiple chances at a needle-moving non-conf win.

That would be great, though I’m not expecting to see that on this year’s schedule.

SMU is a great addition. Definitely a move in the right direction.

Solid addition. Happy with the schedule upgrade but looking for one more good home game.
Think Illinois will be improved, probable quadrant 2 team despite their lack of size.

Any updates? Is there space to schedule a game before visiting Illinois on Nov. 13th? A home game before the 11th? Since we have so many new faces and one who has been away for long, a good home cupcake game would be nice before the first away test.

Xavier, for example, also has a game the 13th. Their opener is November 6, and another game the 10th.
