Yes. Come on down.
Love his game. Love how he fits with the pieces we already have.

247sports.com/player/james-akinjo-93836Listed at only 6'0" and 160 pounds, but in the video clips he looks more solidly built than that. 160 is tiny for a 6-footer. At the same listed height, Dickerson was 185, by comparison. Nonetheless, to pick up a Top 100 pure PG this late in the game I think would be a steal.

Linked below is the edited highlight reel for James Akinjo's MVP performance at the 8-game Peach Jam tournament last summer.
Looks like he drained about 20-25 3s in the 8 games. He has a nice pull-up jumper in the lane. He has a really nice floater over taller opponents. Not much evidence of his ability to finish at the rim. Terrific passing skills, displayed on the perimeter, drive and dish to slashers, drive and kick to shooters, pick 'n roll, and on the fast break. He did look pretty small in these clips against taller opponents, but clearly wasn't a problem (hence the MVP honors). Rock solid handle.
He appears to be a pure PG who can push the pace, pass, and shoot it from 3.
I think we would be totally thrilled to steal this guy last minute.

I really like the pass he makes at 1:58. From half court he gets it to a cutter to the basket.

It looks like he sees the court really well, which is deeply needed. I’m personally not as worried about the finishing at the rim as knocking bodies can take a toll. The only concern is the usual AAU slower pace (conserving energy) shown, but he did have one or two good breaks. Paired with MM this could get interesting real fast.

Aside from some potential early season jitters/next-level adjustments, it's hard to imagine that McClung and Akinjo would not be a big upgrade over Mulmore and Dickerson heading into BE conference play next season.
Fingers and toes crossed. I wonder if McClung is a big draw or a concern for a player like Akinjo.

www.kansas.com/sports/college/wichita-state/article206173449.html"Ever since his recruitment has opened back up, his phone has been ringing off the hook and so has mine," Salesian coach Bill Mellis told The Eagle. "For a team like Wichita State with all of its success to be interested, I think that tells you what kind of player James is and what kind of offers he will get. He's going to have a lot of really good choices, but I would imagine Wichita State would be one of those schools right at the top of the list."
Since Akinjo's recruiting opened again on Monday, Mellis said he has been offered by around a dozen programs, including Arizona, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Georgetown, Maryland, Wake Forest, Utah, California, and Oregon State. Georgetown coach Patrick Ewing made a home visit to Akinjo on Monday.
Mellis pointed out that Akinjo still has four official recruiting visits remaining since he committed to Connecticut in the fall after using his first to visit Hartford.
"I could see him wanting to take one on a team like Wichita State that's not close to home and where his family can't just drive there since we're out here on the West Coast," Mellis said. "I'm not sure he's going to use all four of them, but I imagine he'll use some.""He's looking for a good situation where he can be coached and pushed and challenged as a player, but also a situation where he can step in and realistically play right away," Mellis said. "He will make the decision on what he feels like is the best fit. He had a really good rapport with coach Ollie, so I know how he gets along with the coaches will be very important too."Good to know he has 4 visits left, hope the staff can secure one of them..

Not sure I like the idea of having a small backcourt of Mac and James, especially with both being frosh. But the Hoyas do need to bring in other guards other than McClung and we would be fortunate to get this kid as a late addition.

Yeah, 6'0 and 6'2 is not small. It's fairly average especially with Pickett and Blair in the rotation. Shouldn't be a concern.
