Like I said we need another point guard with a sense of urgency. So glad Ewing knows this!
Kind of worried about this kids quote: "Just being able to focus on basketball and school is big," he said. "Being surrounded with coaches that played my position before makes me feel really comfortable."
I do know we have Jon Wallace on staff, but how much and will he be able to make this kid better as a pg if he were to come to the Hilltop.

He's a dog. Honestly the best guard we could add at the moment. He could be a Ryan Arch, or Jevon Carter, in terms of the type of impact he could have on a program. He's a culture builder, a leader, and a coach on the floor. He plays both ends and has a 3.8 GPA for good measure.... The clip below is the best way to describe the type of kid he is. He's #15 in Black. The kid he's yelling at kept leaking out instead of crashing the boards. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/jevon-carter-1.html www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/ryan-arcidiacono-1.htmlNot necessarily similar players but I could see his career following a similar path as either of these guys. Related to your comment about how he's "a culture builder, a leader, and a coach on the floor":

Saw the highlights and the kid does look like a "pure" point guard. Great handle and sees the floor great. The only thing you don't really see is how athletic the kid is. Is he an elite athletic type of kid? I don't know if I have seen a highlight where he actually dunks!!! Your point guard does not need to be an elite athlete to be effective, but usually these 4 star players are super athletic.

This guy and McClung would give us 2 new guys in the rotation who would bring such different skills to the backcourt than what we've been going with. I am not optimistic, because with recruiting I never am, but our backcourt would be fundamentally different with 2 guys like that joining. Exactly, and both kids are straight pitbulls on the court. I could see them working really well together.

One thing he does is change speeds really well. That's part of the reason why his crossover and driving ability are really advanced for his age.

What does it that Pat was out there at a drop of a hat? Would that be then requesting he come out or Pat saying I’ll my drink, I’ll be there in 5 hours?

A kid with his vision + Mac = alley-oop city.....which would get MD and JG more space with bigs falling off to defend the rims.

But again, it'll be all about decision making to get us over the hump. I think this kid has it. These kids know when to attack and when not too. Both are leaders as well. Can't beat two floor generals like this.

The thing about this is we have these type of point guards right in our back yard. Sleepers as well. Just because the big schools haven't came calling doesn't mean that these kids/point guards can't play basketball on a high level. IMO.

Day one contributor. Big time talent. Exactly what we need.
So happy to see Pat went in-home with him. Get him on campus and get the signature!

Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing was the first head coach to visit James Akinjo, the 6-foot point guard from Richmond Salesian (CA) who obtained a release from his Letter of Intent to UConn in the wake of the firing of Kevin Ollie. “Patrick stresses that he needs a point guard really bad,” Akinjo said Tuesday. “He’s giving me the opportunity to come in and play right away and to also develops under a NBA Coach www.zagsblog.com/2018/03/19/james-akinjo-gets-release-from-uconn/

Sounds like PE realizes he is an elite PG away from making some serious noise next year.

Am I just being an old foogie and making a mountain out of a mole hill? Shouldn't he have said Coach Ewing? Maybe Pat said call me Patrick but Im not as old as Pat and if some 18yr old called me by my first name......😡🤐💀......lol
