This conference really was 2 heavy weights and then everyone else. I don’t think I can remember a time when the gap between 3rd and the bottom of the league was so small.

Hopefully 2 good games tonight, but looking like the best conference final in the country - 2 top 4 teams.

Saw the Butler-Seton Hall game last night. Good game and very nice win but it showed me that the Hoyas were really not that far from being in the top half of this conference considering that they beat both theHall and Butler and should have beaten Butler twice.

I'm really unsure what would be the best for the conference when it comes to NCAAs. Both X and Nova are on the 1 line right now but I'm sure there are people rooting for one of those to fall off. I guess what they need to stay there is to both make the championship game and be competitive throughout. At this point I'm rooting for good basketball but it doesn't have to be X or Nova, both Butler and PC can play a good game; it'll just need to be two in a row.

It's hard to pull against Butler or Providence after they put on two great games yesterday, but a Xavier-Villanova final at the Garden would be an excellent showcase for our league heading into the Tournament.

While I agree that I don't want to see a second 'nova title in 3 years, I would love to see 2 BE teams in the Final Four, if for no other reason than to shut up the fans of P5 schools who try to characterize the Big East as a mid-major.

I thought the Power 5 were the ACC, Big East, B10, Big XII, and SEC? Because the Pac 12 is terrible.

If the Big East isn't one of the best 5 conferences in basketball according to someone they are a moron. There's no point in arguing with that person.

I find it interesting to hear the coaches in the huddle. This is one area I think PE could improve from what I have seen.
Ed Cooley seems to do a heck of a job from what I have heard in a couple of games.

630 start? This is Manhattan dammit - 8 and 1030 would be appropriate, 7 and 930 is OK, but this early bird special ain't right.

Providence just had a really rough stretch to end the half. They finally cut the lead to under 10, then foul a three point shooter and give up another basket right as time expires. Xavier really came out ready to play tonight, and they haven't really let the foot off the gas at any point.

Providence has been on quite the run to this point. Can't help but like Cooley, he genuinely is excited and happy to coach and gets the most out of his players.

The difference between 1st & 3rd place is 5 games which is the same difference between 3rd & 8th place.. Very good game going between PC & Xavier right now.

From MSG Section 222: I come here to Hoyatalk and keep reading people saying Cooley is overrated. I’m sorry, the dude can coach.

This first semi is a good case study in how hard it is even for good teams to close out a game. Xavier blew a 14-point halftime lead against a Providence team that just wouldn't go away. Providence is a load to play-- disciplined on both ends of the floor. Cooley deserves to get to showcase his team in the final tomorrow night.
