David Edwards was not a recruiting miss. He was a coaching miss by big John. David was exceptionally talented and a little too flashy for JT. He ended up being all conference his last two seasons in the Big 12. His debut at McDonough in an exhibition game rivaled anything ever done by Iverson.

They had trouble keeping him "on campus" if I remember correctly

Mateen was a good student, but a soft basketball player. Edwards was crafty. When we beat UNC in the ACC-BE Challenge, he was showboating at the end. Glorious times when we used to spank people.

Either way, we got Joey Brown instead.

He belongs in BE I have never seen this kid play so I can't comment on him but there certainly seems to be plenty of players available between grad transfers, '18 recruits who have de- committed and '18 recruits who have not signed anywhere yet. It is just a matter of finding the right player and convincing him he will fit with the Hoyas next year. Does not seem to be any excuse for not finding a guard who can come in next year and contribute right away with the amount of players available. They may not find a star but should be able to find a capable guard for next year.

Chicago kid. He can shoot, dribble and plays tough D. Definitely a kid we should consider.

If we get Mooney, we could be starting an all-white backcourt. When was the last time that happened?

We still seem to be in the mix for Akinjo, would not expect us to take another recruit/transfer (presuming the Mystery Recruit rumors are accurate) until he decides.

Mooney is an absolute player. Him and Cremo from Albany would immediately step in and be starters for us next year. Hopefully the staff has reached out to both.

Remember Mark Alstork, the grad transfer guard we (and lots of other major programs) were recruiting last year? He ended up going to Illinois - and averaging about 6 points a game on 33% shooting in 23 minutes a game. He had averaged 19 ppg at Wright State the season before.
This is a good reminder that grad transfers are really a crap shoot. We got really lucky with Pryor - his talent translated up to the Big East. But a lot of guys just are not good enough to be impact players at a higher level. That does not mean we should not recruit grad transfers. But there is perhaps even more guesswork involved in projecting grad transfer performance than there is in projecting freshman performance.

JAMES AKINJO is ABSOLUTELY the #1 option and should be. Wouldn't hurt to reach out to Mooney or Cremo , but there's a reason Coach Ewing/Staff made their way to James A's Home in Cali immediately after him being granted his release. Akinjo is a STUD and with him and Mac , Hoyas would certainly be able to compete going forward. The so-called mystery recruit would be a great addition also , but not sure he'd ever make it to the 2019/2020 season if he had to sit out. No one knows the situation in total , so I guess we all have to let the Dominoes fall.. I'm confident the STAFF is on their BIKE.. HOYAS WILL BE BACK

I can't speak for Cremo , but I've watched Mooney play multiple times. He's good and can absolutely play on this level. I want James Akinjo to be a HOYA and I know the staff is pushing to make this happen.

Right now, Georgetown seems to reach out to almost everyone who is transferring right now too.
