On the DePaul board they are suggesting that their center, Marin Maric, is unlikely to play tomorrow (sprained knee). Not sure how accurate that is. A big X-factor for this game is the availability of DePaul’s senior center Marin Maric. Maric missed the last game against Butler with a left knee sprain, and it is unclear whether or not he will play on Wednesday. He has been a starter for Leitao, and in the first game against the Hoyas, he scored 18 points with five rebounds. At 6-foot-11 and 240 pounds, he also presents a physical challenge for Govan on both offense and defense. If Maric does not play, it could be an ideal opportunity for Govan to bounce back with a big game. georgetownvoice.com/2018/01/23/pregame-primer-depaul-blue-demons-2/And his back-up is out with an illness as well. It'll be up to walk-on center Peter Ryckbosch 247sports.com/college/depaul/Article/DePaul-vs-Georgetown-Preview-114118165

Line has moved to -5. Go figure. O/U 144.5. For entertainment purposes only. Line now Hoyas -4. O/U 145. Curious if Maric's absence confirmed as well as his backup and DePaul starts a walkon center.

Think about that. DePaul, without their starting center who averages 14/6, Hoyas at home, with that skinny of a spread. Yikes.

Without him and possibly his usually back up you have ot think the Hoyas can exploit the advantage in the post wiht Marcus and Jessie. This years team is not good enough to "assume" they will win any games in the Big East, but if they continue to show the improvement they have been showing, take care of the ball a little better and exploit their interior advantage they should be in a good position to get win #4 in conference tonight

I want to see Jamarko play with confidence again. Aggressive play by Jagan without the sloppy/lazy passes. Some minutes and production from Antwan.
And don't try to force the game inside to Jessie even though DePaul big man/men out. He should get his, but make it within the flow of the offense.

I agree with everything written except not forcing the ball inside to Jessie. This is the way basketball is suppose to be played inside/out. It's a huge plus with two of DePaul's big's out to get the ball inside. DePaul with have the 6'10" walk-on guarding him as well. All of this is considered in the flow of the offense.

So are the starting center and back-up not playing? Is that confirmed. I need to edit my prediction.

I know what you are saying, but my concern is that our guards have not done the greatest job getting the ball inside to Jessie and Doc this year, if they try to force it the turnovers will add up. DePaul will expect it and will swarm him if we are too methodical. Move the ball, wait until he is position to do something with it quickly before getting it to him.

They could win by one in a rock fight and I'd be happy.
Steal two other games in the regular season and I'd be ecstatic.

If we win and Xavier loses tonight we will only be two games behind SECOND PLACE in the Big East with half the schedule completed.

If we win and Xavier loses tonight we will only be two games behind SECOND PLACE in the Big East with half the schedule completed. Buckle up. The mettle of this fanbase will be tested (hopefully) after this game. A brutal nine game stretch is ahead of us beginning Saturday and we will be lucky to win another game until opening day of the BEAST tournament. That's over a month folks. I see the progress this team has made with limited skilled players. I'm prepared, everyone else should be also. I will cheer my team on with my blue & gray glasses, but folks its going to be a bumpy ride.

"Lucky" is just a touch extreme. We will be underdogs in virtually every game, possibly all of them. But if we can play a solid game, shoot well and limit turnovers, there are a couple which we can win without relying on "luck" - Marquette, maybe even Provy at home or Butler.
But yes, we need to tamp down our angst over losses during the second half of the conference schedule.

We would have to play our A+ game and they would have to have off nights. That's why I say lucky. I'm mentally prepared for my sanity to lose out the regular season slate. I hope folks don't walk the plank. The only thing this team can control is how they "Fight". If they show this, I'm good. Brighter days ahead. Agree with this part "we need to tamp down our angst over losses during the second half of the conference schedule"

I just feel (okay, hope) they will have one or two other nights where they play well enough to pull one out.

I see the progress this team has made with limited skilled players. I'm prepared, everyone else should be also. Yes, I think in that nine game stretch what we really need to look for is improvement among our players and as a team - for example, team defense, whether we click more on offense, etc. While it would be nice to pick off a win here and there (and a win against Providence at home, for example, is very doable), we will probably lose most of them. While going 0-9 to end the season (or even 1-8 or 2-7) would probably cause a lot of angst among fans, it simply reflects that our games against the weaker teams were front loaded this season (probably a good thing). Keep in mind there is some small value in being the 7 or 8 seed in the Big East Tournament, since we would draw either St. Johns or DePaul and have a winnable game. Of course, if we are the 8 seed and won we'd play Villanova (likely) on Thursday. If we somehow got the 7 seed and won, we would play whoever the second place team was. (Note: I am ignoring the finishing 10th scenario, which is extremely unlikely given St. John's current record.)

IIRC to right before he signed, even Pickett... If only he could show 3-&-done qualities this year. There's still plenty of time to turn on the switch. Today would be a good start. Prophetic. Dare I say two in a row?

I know ive said this many times before. And for years this has been the case. I guess the point im tryjng to make its the right thing to do getting the ball inside. Just make good passes. Know when and where to throw the ball. Use bounce passes as well.
