It is worth recognizing the the linked column said one phone "appears" to be solely for his "players." Putting aside the ambiguity of "my players" (we're assuming that refers to current Hoyas) - it's been accepted as gospel here that Boswell's impression was correct, despite the fact that it wasn't stated definitively. Given the fact that some people prefer to have a separate phone for work and personal (definitely not my preference), it could be that one is for personal, one is for work and one is for recruiting. Frankly, given all the regulations relating to calls/texts with recruits, I think it makes perfect sense to have a completely separate phone for that purpose so that it is very easy to track all the contacts, calls, etc. If that's the case, we're just looking at the business/work preference that a lot of people have, with the extra phone for compliance issues layered on top.
All that said...no defense is needed. If Ewing wants three phones (or four or five), then more power to him.
