I thought it was said that keeping guys in our own backyard was a top priority...here's a very competitive kid who goes to a Catholic school right across Key bridge who has an opportunity to go to a top academic, Catholic university coached by a HOF player/coach with a program that graduates three point guards and instead he chooses Nebraska...I'm sorry, but something just ain't right with this...its not as if he would be the program savior, but he could certainly compete for meaningful minutes right away, and even in a worst case would be a very valuable piece coming off the bench as a defensive stopper/playmaker/energy guy in a position of huge need...I don't get it...I hope we have better options because that's the only justification to me...

Okay, now that this is over, was anyone really all that sold on Johnson? Seemed like there were some serious holes in his game from what I read about him. Was the excitement for him really about his game, or just because he was the only PG apparently being pursued and we felt we needed a win? I think he's gonna be a solid college player, that's his floor.. Is he a game changer no but he could have been a change of pace guy.. Johnson is more explosive with the ball than anyone currently on the roster.. I like his game..

I’m actually heated about this. I don’t want to go on and on about it because it’s done but this should have been a layup and we completely botched it.
First time since he got the job that I’m looking at Pat a little sideways.

Team Takeover A.A.U...an aau that has been well chronicled in which we needed to improve that relationship. I think he was stringing us along more than the staff towards him. Chris Jones obviously wants to come.

Man a lot of part time coaches on here who know better than a HOF'er who has coached for many years. Let's give our HC the benefit of the doubt for now.

We have a few young PG's on our team...certainly no guarantee that he would start. Oh well.

The young man chose another school. We will get our point guard. He's familiar with Georgetown and DC, and wanted to go somewhere else. Coach Patrick Ewing can't make anyone come to Georgetown. This has to be a mutual decision. Don't sweat it.

There are many true point guards out here. It always good to have at least one speedy one lol. Speed kills. I see this kid get from one end of the court to the other in a SUPER BLUR. LOL NO SHEESH!

He wouldn't have changed the trajectory of the program but he would have been a good fit. High energy kid who defends.

“I have chosen Nebraska University,” he told MADEHoops. “The coaching staff is what stood out to me. Coach Miles and Coach Hunter have stayed in contact with me ever since they offered and they were one of the first schools to offer me. I also liked the relationship I had with the players, the educational resources they had, the environment and their player development.”
Nebraska has expressed to him that he will be a priority for them right when he gets there.
“I will make a big impact when I arrive at Nebraska,” Johnson said. “They want me to facilitate, push the ball and defend at a high level. They also think they can utilize my ability to get into the lane and create for others.Best of luck to the young man.. Think it was a missed opportunity by the staff.. Preexisting relationship with Copeland?

Preexisting relationship with Copeland? No, I don't believe so.... Majority of kids want to go where they're wanted, Nebraska made him feel like he was wanted. After a bunch of teams on his list took commitments from other guys it's not a surprising decision at all...

I'm sure he knew Copeland from his 2.5 yrs at Georgetown. I think Copeland probably had some not so nice things to say about Georgetown I'm sure...

Don't think he told him go to Gtown but Copeland had 0 effect on this... This is about what Nebraska did, and Georgetown did not. They don't have a relationship and Thomas Allen was his host... Appears the staff wasn't sold on him, and time will tell if that was the right decision... Recruiting is year round so we'll see where we end up

Arrests made in connection with Adidas paying high school kids to attend their schools, i.e., Zona, Auburn, OSU and USC. By the way, Nebraska is an Adidas school. College recruiting is a show!

Pretty sure Arizona is a Nike school.. Also would have to guess there was no shady dealings with Xavier choosing Nebraska..

We don't need to allege bribery as a cause of our inability to recruit.

Unsure what to think of this. If on one hand he was our top PG prospect and NU outrecruited us in our backyard then I am baffled as to how we let that happen. However, if the staff weren't as high on him as the fans and we kind of slowplayed him then I hope we have other targets we are voraciously targeting.
