I apologize if this has already been discussed/determined, but does Greg have one more year of eligibility? Could he be a grad student/player next year? Thanks. Greg played three years at William & Mary (and fairly substantial minutes all three years), so he cannot play next year.

Greg has been a revelation. Psyched to have him on the team. As I have mentioned before, I wasn’t sure what role he would play, but I am glad he is here!

I never imagined I'd be saying this...but Greg, if he so chooses, will get paid to play basketball overseas next year.

That said - he killed us in the second half tonight (although he had plenty of accomplices). Tried to do too much, things he is not capable of.

When shots are made too quickly, even slightly rushed and/or off balance...they usually don't go in...Greg, Jahvon and others were guilty of this in the second half...after better ball movement, shooting "in the flow" (as opposed to forcing shots) and shooting beautifully in the first half...their zone caused that but we weren't patient enough with quicker ball movement and making the extra pass to get those better looks in the second half...the foul line jumper is usually available against a 2-3 zone (Trey's shot, and one Josh needs to develop consistently...he tends to flatline it and just needs to shoot it a tad higher and softer...my bet is that he'll get better at it)...my biggest concern is the lack of physicality inside defensively...they were smart to keep attacking with their two bigs and off the dribble, so they shot 10 more fts than us by being more aggressive, and that was the difference...how about a diamond and 2 zone with two of us playing man on their best perimeter threats and our other 3 in a diamond zone to try to protect the paint better? Beat the Friars!

Greg had a career night at Butler. You can’t expect him to ever match that level of production. He came down to earth last night.

Greg can be an important part of the this years team, but he needs to play his role within the team. To me that role is a spot up shooter/floor spacer that comes off the bench and gives that second unit someone to make shots. I like a lot of what he does, he can definitely shoot the ball, rebounds well for his size and usually makes good decisions but he does get a little exposed if he needs to play too many minutes and tries to do too much. I think when Mac comes back the two of them will compliment each other well, as scoring options so that the team always has some offensive options on the floor. When the first unit came out last night the team was really rolling, but that second unit struggled to find good shots which let to transition opportunities for Xavier and turned the momentum. I don't really care who starts, but having some players who can score in that second unit will help a lot.

The absence of Mac is the problem. With Mac out, we need Malinowski to be more aggressive, as Mac and Akinjo are the only guys on the team who can threaten the D off the bounce. Amazingly, sometimes he can do it - vs. Butler and early in the Xavier game, for example. But when you have to count on Greg to create off the dribble for extended periods of time, it is not going to work consistently. He has far exceeded anyone's expectations, but he is not going to be draining step back 3s, scoring off the dribble, and zipping perfect no look passes without also making a lot of mistakes. if he is forced to play aggressively all the time. Hopefully Mac comes back at some point fairly soon, and Greg can move into a more supporting role, where he can pick his spots to attack opportunistically, rather than having to attack all the time in order to try to keep the offense from bogging down completely.

It was clear last night that Pickett, Blair and Mosley are not ones who can penetrate a zone. Need Mac back. Jessie was getting triple teamed last night on occasion.

It was actually the lineup with Mosely, Blair and Malinowski that seemed to be the only ones that knew how to attack the zone up in Syracuse. How soon we forget?

Yes, Butler. Butler, Creighton and Xavier are all the same to me. 😉
