Remember when posters were wondering why Pat wanted him, and how he was going to get any minutes?πππ I will freely admit I was one of them and so glad I was wrong...

Remember when posters were wondering why Pat wanted him, and how he was going to get any minutes?πππ The main question about Greg was why he was being brought in to sit for a year when he would then only have one year of eligibility. That question has now been answered.

Tonight should finally put an end to questioning Coach Ewing and the staffs evaluation and recruiting abilities.
If Coach Ewing brings in a 5'4" 305 LBS post player, best believe he must be baller...

We are so much more well balanced when he's on the floor.

Pretty awesome that Akbar Waheed got us in the door for Malinowski. Just another example of relationships mattering in recruiting, even after a player picks another school.

Start the man!! We are so much more well balanced when he's on the floor. Over reaction to one game. The team is building something special that can be in play for years. Gotta balance longer-term opportunities and development over short term options...

I didnβt understand how he fit, but damn he had a phenomenal night. He brings a lot to this team.

I thought Malinowski would be a spot up 3 point specialist and contributor. He led the Hoyas in points, rebounds, and assists last night. I never expected that.

Definitely grabbed some huge rebounds. I like how he goes up to board - strong. We need it too.

Not surprised Greg put up these numbers. Him putting the ball on the floor and going to the basket was definitely pleasant to see though.

Last night, I was inspired to yell late in the game, β I love you Greg!β while deep in enemy territory.

Also give Ewing credit for placing players in position to succeed. And then coaching them to get better. Tip of hat to Malinowski: I had thought of him as a pure catch and shoot guy because he was turnover-prone. I recognized he was trying to improve that, but it did not seem to be working. Within the past two games, he improved substantially. And last night I didnβt catch any mistakes. He really helped the team out in multiple ways. He was best player on floor last night. I donβt care whether he starts. There are too many chemistry questions involved for me to judge. But it is nice to have a 6th man who is feared by the conference.

He alters shots and passing lanes you don't see in the box score. Starting Greg over pickett would be the worst defensive lineup you could trot out there. I don't agree, but understand the argument for Mac being the 6th man. Pickett should not be the odd man out under any scenario.

Take it from someone who has seen him play a long time, Greg has always had a very strong full, run-the-court game -- he's never been just a catch-and-shoot guy. Indeed, while he ultimately earned a starting job, W&M's offense didn't fit his game that well (they run a Princeton style set, irony or ironies...) and as his abilities matured the chance to play a higher level, up-tempo game like Patrick was promising made the transfer a win/win. I say this to simply point out (1) while it is unreasonable to expect performances like last night all the time, it isn't THAT much of an anomaly/one-off -- he has always had a handle, vision, and nose-for-the-ball to go with the shot; and (2) there's no question that Patrick (and Akbar) deserve credit for getting him to the Hilltop.

You would destroy Pickett if you brought him off the bench.
