My crack at the rotation. Biggest question mark is who plays back up C behind Govan. Obviously pending further additions to the squad/transfers.
Starters: PG- Trey Dickerson SG- Jagan Mosely SF- Kaleb Johnson PF- Marcus Derrickson C- Jessie Govan
Bench: G: Tre Campbell, Jonathan Mulmore, Jahvon Blair F: Trey Mourning, Antwan Walker

That seems the most likely, but I'm hoping Mulmore takes a step after a year under his belt and challenges for minutes at PG. Not particularly impressed with our new transfer's numbers against lesser competition.

Well now this question has been answered: Sodom! Really hope that Jesse stays four years both because it would help him and give PE two full years to develop Sodom. Really like this recruitment. We say things like this every year but if Jessie feels like it's the right time to jump after next season it'll, likely, mean that we had a better season than we're expecting. 10 and 5 (especially the 5) on a bad team isn't impressing many people at the next level. I know that the offense had him away from the basket more than in other sets but the 5 boards should be concerning.

With Sodom on the team, Jessie will have an opportunity to play the high and low post,as well as shooting the 3-ball. There will be times when they will play together. Jesse has to work on his footwork down low and learn to dance...really! The team is coming together. My concern who has the heart to rebound, and the need for shooters. Someone(s) with skill and confidence to take good shots when they materialize. Derrickson could be that player!

Someone(s) with skill and confidence to take good shots when they materialize. Derrickson could be that player! I wasn't a person that was psyched about the prospect of Patrick being the coach. In large part because of my fear of him walking into a really bad situation and complicated personal relationships. Having said that, I'm really hopeful that Pat will coach like he played. You don't want it enough or don't work hard on both ends? Get really comfortable on the bench because you're not getting time. One of the few bright spots of having had such a brutal slump as a program is that success isn't expected right away. Patrick has a small window with less scrutiny than he'd have if he was walking into a situation where JT3 had had a great run and decided, for his own reasons, to step down and move on. Pat has a grace period to build his own culture. I'm excited to see what he does with it. All of my reasons for not wanting him as a coach for Georgetown were about Georgetown and not about Patrick. He considered the negatives and took the job anyway and even went so far as to say that he only took the job because it's Georgetown. I'm biased because I do love me some Ewing but I also really respect the way he always went about his business. He was rarely cocky. He was confident. He wasn't ever not prepared and didn't ever lack for effort. And, even when his knees betrayed him, he knew the game well enough to compensate for his loss in mobility to such a degree that he was still an elite player. I hope he kills it at the college level both for my own selfish reasons but more to cram it down the throats of those that didn't give him a shot at the pro level even though he earned it. I hope that, a handful of years from now, GM's are begging Patrick to help them out.

Roster question:
Is there a limit of walk-ons per NCAA rules? How many do we have coming back from last year? I'm thinking we have two, or three with Trey.

I think Syracuse always has 4 or 5 cheerleaders at the end of their bench who never see the court even during blowouts. They may be in charge of writing papers for the scholarship guys.

Nooooo!!! We need a healthy Marcus. I assume a walking boot is just holding him over until Kenner but we'll see in a week.

My main concern comes from the fact that Marcus should be our best player but can still use all summer to improve.

After what happened to Marcus in Kenner last year, I would sit him out this year and have him practice skills and with the new shooting machines.

I do hope these guys are hitting the weights, they could be carrying a heavy load next season.

I do hope these guys are hitting the weights, they could be carrying a heavy load next season. Agreed. While I think it's unlikely, the only small possibility we are good will involve Derrickson and Govan playing a high percentage of minutes (which, by definition, means they need to play better defense and foul less than in the past).

With the recent additions to the team I think I need to update my rotation.
PGs: Trey Dickerson, Jonathan Mulmore, Tre Campbell SGs: Greg Malinowski, Jagan Mosely, Jahvon Blair SFs: Kaleb Johnson, Antwan Walker PFs: Marcus Derrickson, Trey Mourning Cs: Jessie Govan, Chris Sodom
Should Rafus commit, I'd put him getting spot minutes at the 3 and 4 depending on who else is on the court at that moment, and who ends up being the better between him and Walker. Also, I think the forward spots will be pretty fluid. Reasonably, any of KJ, Walker, Derrickson, and Mourning could play the 3/4, so they'll probably mix up minutes at each spot. Likewise, Mosely and Blair will almost certainly get pg minutes. Lot of positionless players it seems, but no true stand outs at any of these positions besides Marcus and Jessie.

Likewise, Mosely and Blair will almost certainly get pg minutes. Lot of positionless players it seems, but no true stand outs at any of these positions besides Marcus and Jessie. Too big - especially for this roster. Derrickson and Mourning aren't playing the 3 -- they're 4s who will also play "5". And there will be as much time as each can handle for all 3 frontcourt guys, incl. Jessie. Mosely and Blair aren't playing the 1 either -- at least not with any regularity. Dickerson and Mulmore will likely be on the floor for 40+ combined minutes, so that doesn't leave much time for either Jagan or JB to be PG. And if we're not getting consistent offense from Kaleb, I think they'll be playing the 3 far more than they'll be at the point. Initial guess at minutes breakdown (in meaningful games): Trey D 25 Jagan 30 Kaleb 25 Derrickson 30 Govan 25 Mulmore 20 Mourning 18 Blair 15 Walker 12 Obviously that doesn't include Tre and Greg M. If it's determined they're definitely gonna be on the court starting in November, my guess is they'll eat up all of Blair's minutes and take a little from all of the other 1-3 guys. (ON EDIT) Sodom will play VERY sparingly. Aside from a few minutes here and there, his best shot at PT during meaningful games will be fill-in minutes when our bigs are in foul trouble. I reserve the right to be entirely wrong on the breakdown, since we haven't even started Kenner yet. And then reserve the right to be completely wrong again based on Kenner performances.
