AU upset us over the holidays exams when we WON the national championship NO LOCALS PLEASE that darn guard Gordon Austin YUK Hate to quibble with you my friend but the Gordy Austin AU upset was 1982-1983 right on the heels of the Sampson game. Our losses in 1983-1984 were DePaul, Nova and SJU.

I guess we'll get tested early. Tough games against good opponents for sure!!! But it does give the Hoyas a chance to grab some early attention and build some program momentum if they could steal an early season win from one of those programs

We will get prominent TV time because of the Ewing angle, but little will be expected of us. Hopefully we can be competitive and play with intensity.

This is a great opportunity. No matter what the roster composition, you better believe that the Hoyas will be playing to WIN and not just showing up. There will be high expectations of the team from the coaches. The games are played on the court and not on paper....of course everyone Knows that!

Jaren Jackson Jr. gets to play against his parents school will be a strong narrative going into the matchup.

NBA and NHL schedules now finalized, we should be seeing the GU schedule soon now. Navy and Towson just announced schedules today, no Georgetown. As of 8/15, 156 Division I schools have finalized schedules overall, none include Georgetown. Overall, 239 Div. I schools have announced opponents for the opening weekend on Nov. 10-11. Candidates for opening weekend? I'll start with Radford, Savannah State, and UDC.

Let's play Monmouth at McDonough. That should work out well.

We are complaining about the schedule of a first time coach being too weak before it has even been released as if we have had consistently easy schedules (false) or we have any idea what Ewing's scheduling philosophy is. Can we just relax and maybe give the new coach a chance before circling the wagons.

Prediction:
Were going to play 30-31 games and 18 of those will be conference games. Let's just wait till the schedule is released.

We are going to play a weak non-conference schedule this year as we rebuild. We didn't pull out of PK80 to play a strong schedule. Temper expectations accordingly.

Scheduling issues aren't just confined to the Men's team. Women announced their non-conference schedule. They posted a 10 game schedule on Instagram this morning, but by the time the press release went out, it was down to 9 games (Open at home with Howard; play Auburn over Thanksgiving, but no mention of Terri Williams-Flournoy in the release)--VCU away on 12/21 disappeared. Last non-conference game is NC State on 12/10, so either the conference schedule is starting before Christmas or the Women are going to have a two week break.
There's a gang that can't shoot straight quality to some of this stuff.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch (stltoday.com) has a great piece about scheduling difficulties the SLU Billikens had. Mentions in passing they had discussions with Georgetown because the Hoyas needed games but talks fell through. Talks about what a slog it is putting a schedule together(contacted 250+ schools trying to get opponents for November and December), especially if you're not in an exempt tourney. They lucked out--heard Indiana wanted out of the 2K Classic at MSG and kept calling the organizers until IU pulled out and the tourney needed someone.
