Saw a bit of time in the 2nd which is even weirder to me. Maybe hes sick or banged up but not so bad he cant totally play. I'm pretty sure he never played... I was at the game. I don’t think he ever checked in. Was Wondering the same thing.

I could be wrong, but I thought I saw him on the wing right in front of Richmond's bench. May have just been Akinjo's #3 though, I was watching in a bar on a smaller TV.

I didn't see Blair enter the game and the GU box score doesn't list him.
He was in the warmup lines and looked ok but I wasn't really watching him.

He's a guy that should be playing more and especially if he wasn't hurt, he could've been huge in this game.

The problem with Blair and Pickett is that they can’t create for themselves. They need to be fed the ball for open threes. Too one dimensional. Looks like Pickett drove to the basket a few times last game, but not tonight.

He was not credited with any minutes. So... Malinowski 20 mins and Mosely 19 minutes, along with a combined 61 from Mac and James. That's a lot of minutes with none from Mr. Blair.

Probably precautionary I'm guessing...maybe tweaked something or has cold/flu that's been going around..hopefully that's all...but we better start playing some defense or we're gonna get blown out of the OrangeDome (they beat #16 Ohio St by 10 AT Ohio St tonight)...maybe we should start playing a zone...

Looks like Pickett drove to the basket a few times last game, but not tonight. Blair last year was pretty good at the opportunistic drive and get fouled, but we haven't seen a lot of that this year. He's never been a "line 'em up and take 'em off the bounce" kind of guy, but he's pretty good at taking advantage of slow rotation or overplaying defenders. Hopefully this was a temporary thing, because his offense will be welcome at times.

Was dressed but DNP. Didn’t look like anything was wrong but who knows.
On edit, from The Voice game Article (linked in the Article Links thread):

Maybe Blair wants out, two frosh guards starting ahead of him.

Maybe we not over-react to a single game aberration.

Competition has ratcheted up this year at the guard spot. You either get better and contribute on the floor or sit. I love Pat’s no nonsense basketball.

My concern is that through seven games it hasn't produced anything that looks like a team that is gelling and figuring out how to improve each other. Right now, it is a bunch of individual performances from a lot of the team and that sure as hell isn't going to get it done come Big East time. This has not been a put the best performers on the court approach at all and seems more like an approach about the future. I'm one that thinks both near term success can happen while developing for the future. In my opinion,we need that success this year to up our recruiting results. Put another way, I'm a believer that Mackinjo will be a good combination for the future but I don't think that combination makes us a tourney team without depth and talent across the board.

That’s because the upperclassmen are forcing the young players on to the court because they haven’t developed. The freshman may make mistakes, but they are hungry and bring it. Johnson should be feasting his senior season, instead he is on the bench and invisible. I like what Pat has brought in. Every player will not pan out, but give me some hustle plays and I can rally around that. Mac dove for a loose ball his very first game- love it. Tired of being soft and average.

Maybe Blair wants out, two frosh guards starting ahead of him. Maybe Patrick is sending a message about giving 100% every day, not just during games. Could be a lot of reasons.

There are reports that the team had the 2 worst practices of the season heading into the Richmond game. Maybe Blair wasn't practicing hard enough. I like that Coach Ewing is sending the message, demanding hard work at all times and willing to sit a player if they aren't working up to their capabilities. It has to be universal. Everybody on the team has to be subject to this penalty...

I'll tell you that this hunger you speak of is not winning basketball. I think you are mistaking hunger with making sure "I get mine" type plays. For every Mac dive on the floor, there are five sit there flat footed watching the action on defense while his man sneaks away to get open for a shot. This board definitely is split in three right now: 1) thise that think the freshman can do no wrong or explain it away consistently, 2) those that are being way too hard on the freshman and can't see the positive they bring and 3) those that just want to see the team start winning again now and know that only happens this year if we start playing better as a team. I consider myself to be in the last group and the only way this roster does that is if they work to maximize the existing talents of the 9 man rotation.
