I really believe it is to help get Morko and Bile going.....Let me explain....
When Blair is in the game, he is ball dominant eating up time possessions which doesn't allow enough time for Morko or Bile to get going. I noticed even with little positive result with Bile a few games ago, in the beginning of the game, they kept going to Bile. Last night, to begin the game, they kept going to Morko.
I think coach is having Blair to start the game on the bench to focus on getting either Morko or Bile going early in the game. They put the focus on one of these two guys (along with feeding Q) to get some rhythm for Morko or Bile. Q is automatic so it ain't about Q even though he is a part of the strategy in the beginning of the game, it is really about Morko and Bile and getting them in the flow of the offense.
The other thing that I noticed is Blair has the hardest job on the team. He has to both score and get his teammates involved. I think that when he comes off the bench, coach is counting on Blair to look to score first (which isn't hard for him to do because the ball is in his hands primarily and for the most part he dominates the possessions) and secondly they want Blair to try to get the ball to his teammates and set them up for scoring opportunities. Having those two things mainly as your job with the team can be very difficult to manage because you have to be a good decision maker knowing when to score and knowing when to pass.
I think Blair has gotten better at his combo guard role in essence because his decision making has gotten a little better over the last few weeks.
Genius strategy if this is what coach is trying to achieve but I still wish that Blair would start because what happens if Blair is not on when he comes in? What happens if Morko and Bile don't catch their rhythm and Blair is not on? Sometimes it takes Blair a moment to get going when he comes off the bench and he doesn't provide the scoring that we need. When he starts the game, most of the times he's hot.

I wonder if opposing teams’ fans look at Blair like I look at Mitch Ballock. The kid is a gunner that I like and wish was on my team. At the end of the day, that is what Blair is too.

I’ve been critical of Blair when he gets a little too trigger happy but from now on imma shut up and let him do his thing lol. He’s another that sealed his fate as a Hoya legend for me last night.

So happy for this young man. Remember the SMU game when he hit 7-10 from three? That feels like where the current version of Blair started. Incredible.

How’s that working right now? Regardless of whom is better, the key is that this combination of players is just enough to be great right now. It is a complete team effort.

Yes ....I wanted him to start over Mac!! And as long as Blair finishes the game...who really cares who starts. The ball moves with Blair and didn’t with Mac.

Jahvon Blair is our sniper/scorer. He know how to get his shot, but it is not easy. I think he's best in a catch and shoot situation, but he has other useful tools that work. He is one of the only ones that feed our bigs off of alley-oops. That is so useful. I too love his floaters. I hope he doesn't care too much about starting and realizes how valuable he is to the team. When he's in, he has the green light and is trusted. I haven't paid too much attention to his defense, I know when he's in, we have an active weapon. He is Stef Curry-like with his shot. I know that statement could get me in trouble, but he doesn't need but a second and 3 inches, and his shot is on, a guided missle. So thankful for Jahvon. I love it when he's feeling it and dialing in.

So happy for both Jahvon and Jamorko. They deserve the title and the NCAA bid.

Yea B&G has been saying it from way back that Blair is better than Mac and should start over him I think they are different type of Players, and both are good at the college level but Javohn has come along way

Have to give Blair huge credit for accepting coming off the bench during this run. His role became like a Jamal Crawford or Lou Williams in the NBA — microwave offense off the bench. He’s gonna shoot no matter what and he’ll have his fair share of misses, but he’ll make a bunch of shots too. And he’s gonna really stress the opposing team right as the game could settle into a rhythm, completely upsetting the other team or just escalating us.
Don’t know if there was a reason beyond basketball why he moved to the bench, but it’s really hard to argue with how effective his role was through the BET. Don’t usually see that role as much in college as the NBA cuz the egos can’t handle it. Again big credit to Blair for embracing it through the BET.
Another big step in coaching development for Ewing too. Seems like he’s taken multiple steps forward the last couple months - or at least in his ability to get the players to buy into what he wants.

He's the back up point, so I think it keeps him fresh for the 2nd unit. When he started along side Dante, he would just continue as point with the 2nd unit so he's more tired. Plus he's not taking shots away from the 1st unit which in some sense leads to better flow with the 1st unit offense while giving the 2nd unit more fire power with a fresh Blair.

Also right now I think Juggy is in such a zone that he leaves the bench already hot. He's better than the other teams backups and if they still have their starters in he has an advantage because he is fresh. I don't know what the reason was for the change to 6th man but I'm so glad Ewing stuck with it. Imagine if we started slow against Nova with Juggy starting. There probably is no come back and half of the board wants Ewing out for losing to a hobbled Nova. Instead Juggy comes in and calms the team after the 4pt play by Carey.

Part of the first recruiting class.
Both you and Pickett stuck it out. Through ups and downs, you both stayed down for the program. Says a lot about you both as Hoyas.
Thanks for all that you did for the program.
Wishing you the best in the future.
Go Hoyas!
