State of the program but as 2003 and 4ever say we should be happy or we could become DePaul. We are also a clean program that just has half our malcontents transfer out which is why we have just a low graduation rate. I have never said we should be happy with our current result. Show me where I said that (note: you can't because I've never said that). And I've never said we would become DePaul. But I think they are a good example of trying to improve and failing to do it. Is it possible we could hire a coach that is no better than our current situation? Absolutely. Am I saying it's likely? No. But it's a real possibility. The fact that you can't admit that just shoes how one dimensional your viewpoint is. It doesn't shoe anything. You are the one always bringing up the DePaul analogies with the tone that this will be our fate if we make a change. Coaches get changed out often when they don't perform. Things happen and teams continue to try and find the right fit. At least admit that you have pushed the DePaul fear agenda or you can't be credible.

I know I'll end up watching. I even toyed with the idea of getting tickets since it's a 7pm game. And I know I'm crazy but I'm hoping for a spirited game where we somehow win. I don't think we will. We've been so discombobulated lately. It used to be if we got hit shooting we could take anyone. But now I don't even feel that way. I'll likely be drinking though - that should help.

I would like Rodney Prior to at least have an opportunity to play a BE Tournament Quarterfinal. He has carried us many times this season and deserves it. I think we will play a spirited game, I just worry what happens if SJU punches us in the face to start either half.

I'm trying to be optimistic but it just feels so bad right now. Leaving Verizon after Nova game there was a palpable feeling that the air has gone out of our program. Meanwhile Johnnies have to feel that they are moving up. It will take a huge effort, and be a real test of this teams character, to win this game. I think we all need to hold our breath (if we aren't doing so already). Whole team has to play with "controlled fury". They have to play with a huge chip on their shoulder.

For all of the talk of our "brand" being dead, the Post has us at 28-1 to win the BET.
Based upon our performance this year, that should be 280-1...
Just saying...

But keep in my we totally stomped St. John's the first time, and even at MSG we only lost 86-80 in a game where we had 22 turnovers. We even outrebounded St. John's, something we rarely do to any team. If we play a crisp game, and limit turnovers and fouls, we probably win. For all the talk about St. John's improving, Mullin, etc., they simply weren't a very good basketball team this season. As long as we don't play an absolutely horrible game, it should be at worst close, and I think we have a really good chance of winning this one. Obviously, even if we win today, tomorrow we face incredibly long odds, but let's take it one step at a time.

Can our guys regroup and get back to where they were when we played what I think was our best game when we beat Marquette? Can we shake off the Nova humiliation? Like I said, this is a real test of not just their skills but their intestinal fortitude.

Pretty simple formula for today. Peak and Pryor need to have great games. Then we need Govan to step up and score around 15 points. If we rebound and have less than 15 turnovers we win.

I saw in the paper today that we are two point favorites. How the heck is that possible?

I saw in the paper today that we are two point favorites. How the heck is that possible? Because St. John's isn't a good team. We destroyed them the first time and then we lost 86-80 in a game where we turned it over 22 times. Play a decent game against them and we win.

Agreed, SJU is not exactly good, they are 13-18 overall. We have lost 5 in a row, but they are 1-4 in their last 5, with their only win coming against us in a poorly played game by the Hoyas. If the Hoyas can regroup and approach the BET as a fresh start, they will win.

If we play a crisp game, and limit turnovers and fouls... I think I can count on one hand the number of times we've done this against a conference opponent over the past two years.

It would help if Jessie can stay on the floor. He tends to pick up fouls against quicker bigs. We need him as an option on offense.

I hope LJ also looks like LJ, He obviously had a really tough day against Villanova but one thing I've noticed during our slide is we haven't seen the dominance we could get out of him earlier in the year. If LJ and Rodney can give us a couple dominant performances in a row, we could make some noise in this tournament.
