Perhaps a separate "Petty personal squabbles" thread? Or even sub-board? There wouldn't be much content left on this board then That's because people seem to prefer to make every thread about the coach. KenPom says our odds of victory on Saturday are 25%. I think the odds are better we beat Villanova than HoyaTalk reverting back into a more tolerable form.

I'm curious, how many people are actually looking forward to this game? Maybe it's me but watching most of this season has been a chore. I don't look forward to these games anymore but I watch them all because on a micro level maybe they can bring a little joy for a couple hours. But I'm just curious if people are actually looking forward to this game.

I root for our guys every game, but without any post-season consequences they have only a narrow window of impact.

I don't look forward to these games anymore but I watch them all because on a micro level maybe they can bring a little joy for a couple hours. But I'm just curious if people are actually looking forward to this game. To get it back to the game...I would say I am looking forward to it in the sense that I look forward to all of our games. While this year (and last year) has not been nearly as enjoyable as some others because we haven't been good, I guess the eternal optimist in me thinks we can win any game. Are we likely to win Saturday? Probably not, but there's still a chance and if it happened, I would be thrilled, even if the game doesn't have a ton of meaning in the macro-sense. Bottom line: I love watching Georgetown basketball. And, while all of us can probably use a little break given the way the season has played out, regardless of who is coaching, and regardless of our record, there won't be Georgetown basketball to watch after the BET (assuming the improbable doesn't happen) for several months. And that stinks. So I'll watch it while we have it, and I do enjoy it, even if it's intensely frustrating often seeing us lose.

Hayes has always been a favorite of mine so that helps a little too.

But I'm just curious if people are actually looking forward to this game. I'm definitely looking forward to the game and it's unkowns. For all of the predictions, you never actually know how a game will go until it's played. If Nova has an off night and everyone shows up at the same time, we can win this game. We win this game and we go into the BET with some momentum. Win some BET games and we're back to over .500. Win all the BET games and we're in the NCAAs. Lots of ifs but that is why I prefer CBB over NBA, there is a lot more parity and any team can win any night. Add in that it is the last opportunity to see Pryor, Hayes, and Cameron in Verizon. Our last regularly scheduled game of the season. Maybe even the last time to see JT3 in DC (if some get their way). Lots to look forward to positively. Add in the masochistic possibilities: will we beat our TO rate from the last week, can Josh Hart cause more heart attacks and gnashing of teeth, will there be any quality #FireJT3 signs. Lots to look forward to about this game.

This is the last game of our 5 game weekend min-plan. So far we are 3-1 (beat Elon, UCONN, and Marquette; lost to Butler). Like all of you I'm sick of how this season turned out but as far as attending (and watching games on TV) there is no way I will turn my back on the Hoyas. Yes, after the St. John's debacle I considered not renewing my tickets for next year but when all is said and done, to paraphrase Brokeback Mountain, "I just don't know how to quit them". My son and I have had these tickets for at least 10 years. We were there when we beat Duke and returned to prominence. We were there when Hibbert hit that buzzer beating 3 pointer to defeat UCONN and clinch a BE championship. We were there when Bowen made that ridiculous offensive rebound put back to help beat Louisville, and we were there when we slaughtered Syracuse 61-39 to clinch another BE championship. Sure this season has sucked but we were there when we played probably our best game in beating Marquette. Do I think it is time to replace JT3? Yes. But how we do it will say a lot about our school. It has to be done in a way that respects all that the Thompsons have done for Georgetown and for all the student athletes they coached and mentored. And it has to be done in a way that demonstrates some appreciation by all the fans/alumni like me for the great memories they have given us. Let's finish this season in peace. No matter what happens Saturday let's show some appreciation to our seniors and all our players.

I don't look forward to these games anymore but I watch them all because on a micro level maybe they can bring a little joy for a couple hours. But I'm just curious if people are actually looking forward to this game. I'm looking forward to the game. This has been the first time in almost a decade that I have been able to go to Hoya games regularly. It has been a labor of love, but I enjoy watching college basketball live. Of all the sports I follow, my favorite place to be is still sitting in the stands for a basketball game, to feel the crowd noise and watch the teams trying to communicate on the floor. It's always special to me, no matter who is playing. And I've enjoyed watching Georgetown, of struggling with them and enjoying the few good moments. The loss to Maryland was devastating. The win over Creighton was surprising. The wins over Marquette and Connecticut were thrilling. It was also fun sharing the experience with my wife, who didn't go to Georgetown and to let her become a fan of the team too. Of course, I get what you mean about watching them. When I watch the road games on tv, I feel the same mind numbing frustration with where things are. And all the losses at home are just grating. I remember when we almost never dropped a game at home. But on Saturday I'll still sit there and take in the atmosphere of live basketball, possibly for the last time this year. I'm not planning to go to New York, and the postseason won't be in the cards. I'll be sad the season is over. March madness is my favorite time of every year, and it's tough to not have that same passion and excitement heading into the dance. I will never, ever take an NCAA experience for granted again. Sorry for a long winded answer to your question. It's a tough year. But I'll always love and support the team, whoever the coach is and whoever the players are, when they're on the floor. Ready for 40 more minutes in the regular season.

My daughter will be playing a CYO All Star game on Saturday. This allows me to both miss the carnage and not be tempted to tune in.

I will watch as I always do. I will hope for a victory but expect a loss--the new norm for me. At several points in the game I will check other games to watch teams that play a more appealing brand of basketball. I will go crazy when I see lineups with only one shooter on the floor or one scorer on the floor, remembering the preseason quotes about the deepest team in years and reminding myself how quickly that bubble burst. I will applaud the efforts of players playing hard and challenging Nova for stretches of the game, and then stare into space in befuddlement when LJ lowers his head and recklessly throws his body at the basket in an effort to draw a foul; Mosley, Kaleb and Mulmore pass up open shots because they cannot shoot from deep; Pryor forces a shot when covered well; Govan, Agau and Hayes stop the momentum of the offense by holding the ball far too long or putting it on the floor and losing it; MD commits careless fouls and takes himself out of the game; Trey sits and sits and sits, next to Tre and Reggie; JT III looks on hopelessly as the game gets away through another scoring drought; and, the crowd goes quiet, then loud with hope and then quiet again as the team crumbles under the weight of pressure during a last ditch effort to win a game against a quality opponent. It's the new norm. Yes, I hope we win but more importantly and regardless of the outcome, I hope that JT III takes the classy approach and uses the aftermath to step down or into another role with the school so that I can have the best of both worlds--a continued connection to the Thompson family and hope that the basketball program can regain relevance in the near future with a style of play that I enjoy.

I too will also miss the game since I'll be coaching my son's first little league game of the season. It will be nice to watch players smile and have fun. And yes, I'll be DVRing the game just in case

I'll be on the pitch watching my U17 daughter play a soccer match at Hofstra University in potentially sub-freezing temperatures.
Was an easy choice (although, as always, I will DVR the game).
