A whole lot of Marcus Derrickson in his game.

Isn't that the shot Derrickson got in trouble for?

I don't understand the labeling of Terrance; a 6'-6" power forward? What about his game gives him that description? Is that the role he played at Gonzaga and/or for Team Takeover? Can someone illuminate? I believe he will be a big guard or small forward for the Hoyas. Yeah how is he a bigger Jabril Trawick when Trawick was 6-6 220 and a hyper athletic shooting guard/small forward. Terrance has played more of a small forward / power forward role at Gonzaga, but not D1 power forwrad size. Trawick came in at 6'$" to 6'5" and grew to 6"6" and added beef. Terrance has about the same athleticism, same hight Trawick left with, similar build to Trawick in his second year, but much better play making and shooting, but also good inside when he needs to be. Terrance has a really nice mid-range game, but isn't afraid to play really tough. In short, Terrence going into his senior season in high school is where Trawick was after his 2nd year at Georgetown, has a more complete game, same toughness Trawick had his last 3 years, and solid inside out play that is about where Trawick was his last year.

I keep coming back to Grant Williams. Not nearly as good yet as Williams was, of course. But they seem to share some qualities: High skill level, good shooter, smart player, very solid/strong physically, undersized for traditional power forward, not as quick/explosive as a traditional small forward. I think there is some resemblance to Derrickson in his game as well. Having seen Terrance a lot the last year or two (including courtside quote a few times this summer) he is a better athlete than Derrickson (Derrickson moved much better before his knee indicent and was more cautious after), but similar inside out game. He has shown to be a rough compison to Trawick with speed and athleticism.

I can see the Derrickson comp. TW has played big minutes in the WCAC since his freshman year and EYBL for takeover the last two, so he’s played and produced at a high level for a while. Looks like a plus offensive skill set and good basketball IQ, but he doesn’t appear to be a difference maker on defense. I hope we prioritize some plus defenders with remaining spots.

Let’s not underestimate the impact of a 6’7” small forward who can drain the 3. That is a weapon that has been lacking in our offense.
When’s the last time we had a small forward who was deadly from 3 with big volume? Summers was pretty good from 3. Reggie?
Terrance was 18-50 (36%) in 18 EYBL games this summer. For a high school PF, seems like he’s a good shooter already and could get better with practice/time playing the SF in college.

TW has with Gonzaga often draws the bigger players, but when facing players around his size he defends quite well. He can defend a bigger body power forwards decently, but playing against Amani Hansberry (the incoming freshman big to St. John's) he struggled to stop him, but that is most players trying to cover Hansberry. TW has done well against other bigs for Gonzaga, but does even better against wings. The comparison with Trawick is somewhat size more about Trawicks utter toughness. Hoyas haven't had a player like him since, but soon could. Combine that with nice outside shot and ability to get inside and score and distribute well. I'm really looking forward to TW as a Hoya.

Yes, good call.
But we haven’t had many over the last 20 years.

Kid just basically told us he’s going to Michigan. Why didn’t Juwan Howard need 3 years from being an NBA assistant to start landing recruits like Williams? This aged poorly
