Official Attendance: 7,896. The 400 section must have been packed. The prospect of having to spin the season ticket holder appreciation wheel and possibly winning season tickets for next year was a solid deterrent against my going tonight.

Let's see...We are down by 1 to Maryland with 4 seconds left. Our best ball handler, dribble penetrator and scorer in bounds the ball to a kid who is playing his second college basketball game. The kid drives down court and get stuffed. DePaul meanwhile has their best scorer in bound the ball to a guy who gets it back to him, drives unstopped down court where he is fouled with .2 seconds left. Kinda says it all doesn't it? Gotta love that consistency.

I am constantly amazed by what a horrible defensive team we are. With the exception of Akoy, every single player is a below average defender. I mean, we must run some defensive drills in practice, right? We obviously are running the wrong ones. We are no better defensively - individually or collectively - than we were in November.

No, I got fooled. DePaul lost 10 straight gms, 15 of 16 gms, and lost their last 5 games all by double digit points. I kept thinking not only is gtown going to win this game but this game is not even going to be close. In the New Big East, JTIII was 7-0 (1000) coming into this game in addition to how the Hoyas blew DePaul's doors off in the last contest. 7-0 against DePaul? That does conveniently leave out the dumpster fire of a game we lost to them in the BET a couple of years ago...

That's why so many have ignored the fact we have been horrendous since 2007.

He is not below average on defense, but offensively he is certainly limited - like almost all of our guys.

I think players second guess themselves. Pass up good shots. Don't know what's going to get them pulled from game. Don't understand substitution pattern and what to expect. So I think Akoy could be a better offensive player.
I have been conflicted all season. I think it's time to move on. It's toxic and I have no confidence that this coach is going to work his way out of it.
Game was a definite tipping point.

sounds like we need a poll. Dan can you turn off the no poll rule. I think this warrants that.

As it is, I cringe at both players when they play on their respective weak sides of the court. Something to work on in the off-season, which started tonight.

Tough loss. Total faceplant the last few days. I didn't tune in until halfway through the first, xfinity app was on the fritz, couldn't record the game, got held late at work. We're up big. Then, for almost the rest of the game, we were lifeless and ineffective. What can you say? I can't make sense of it. I do know that this team is hurting right now, the program is hurting right now, and they will try and right the ship. I'm going to root for them, and I know they'll give it their all. As for the wounded warriors of Hoyatalk, hang in there, maybe read a book or something. I grabbed "The Zimmermann Telegram" by Barbara Tuchman Sunday evening, excellent WWI history.
KEEP YOUR HEADS UP HOYAS!!!!

The ultimate embarrassment! I personally felt a lot worse after the losses to Ohio and FGCU. Now obviously the regular seasons were vastly better...but those losses still feel bad. This was two bad teams mucking it up in an empty arena.

Interesting tweets from Aaron Bowen (retweeted by Bobby Bancroft). AB might not be a JT3 fan...talking about karma.

This was two bad teams mucking it up in an empty arena. Agreed, but the point is that was your highlight. We no longer get the Ohio and FGCU games. We just are plain bad. We used to hide behind some sort of successful regular season that ended in horrible losses in the tournament when people pay attention. Now we lose horrible regular season games when no on is watching. From 2007 lose as a 2 to 10, not make it, 3 to 11, 3 to 14, 6 to 11, 2 to 15, not make it, 4 to 5, not make it, not make it. Now lose to DePaul and elimated.
