He is one of the only defenders on the Hoyas who gets under some of the smaller guards. I still recall that steal at the end of last year's home win against Creighton. That was one of the plays of the season. He needs to improve his free throw shooting, get stronger under the basket, and gain some confidence in his jumper. Then, he will get his 15 points per night. That's all he needs to do by his senior year to become a solid contributor. Besides, I think he scored 6 more points than Marcus Derrickson did yesterday, so he's getting there. 15 points per? That's some lofty expectations for his offensive caliber to take off, that's more of the DSR type of level. He's looking more at the trajectory of Jabril Trawick, and he'd only averaged 9 ppg his senior year. Or maybe he'll become another Aaron Bowen w/out the highlight reel.

I would gladly take another Aaron Bowen on every Hoya team for perpetuity.

That's all he needs to do by his senior year to become a solid contributor. Please pass some of what you're having. Solid contributor??!! He would be an All BE-team member at that level. For example, Jeff Green never averaged more than 14 ppg a season. If Kaleb gets more than 8 ppg next year and 10 ppg his senior year, we'll be very, very lucky.

If Kaleb averages 15, we will be in the Final Four!

Sorry, I'll never try to use numbers to describe a player. I thought Jabril was a 15 ppg guy during his senior year. Evidently, I was just dead wrong. I would compare his potential to Jabril at that point. We really need his energy and his heart. That can't be coached. Shooting can.

Kaleb improves the more he plays. His defense and energy are already a plus for this team. His injuries his first two years have set him back and not helped his confidence, but you can see him becoming more comfortable with the more minutes he gets. He definitely needs to continue to improve his offense and his free throw shooting but he was a big time scorer in high school and I have no doubt he can find an important role with the Hoyas over the next two years.
Is he going to be a 15 point a game guy? I doubt it, but I would not be surprised to see him average 8 -10 a game. He will get his points off his hustle and offensive rebounding once he starts finishing the way he should.

From what I remembered he played all of the last season, unless it was a DNP-CD. Also this year, from what I recalled he hasn't missed anytime due to injuries.

I agree that Kaleb basically needs minutes and confidence and with time will become a very solid player.

Part of that may mean enduring some games of, for instance, 3-11 from the field, 1-6 from the line, and 4 TOs. To me, to have an athlete of his nature, it is worth it.

He had some small injuries, I think an ankle injury, his freshman year that limited some of the time he might have gotten. He also had an ankle injury at the start of this season, which did limit some of his minutes early in the year. Both he and Derrickson were a little banged up at the start of this season. The coaching staff was raving about Kaleb's development before the season started and it sounded like he would have a significant role this year, but he was not able to step into that role until he got fully healed from the ankle injury. I am not saying he is ever going to be a star at this level, but he should be the type of solid role player that good teams need.

The question becomes whether those games are the norm for Kaleb. If they are, his hustle and effort are not enough to justify major minutes. If he can make them a rare occurrence, then yes, we need what he can give us.

He is a pretty darn good athlete in my opinion. The main things he needs are minutes, confidence, and reps for a few offensive moves he can go to for scoring. I am optimistic that he can give the Hoyas two years of good minutes.

Often when there is a coaching change, players who couldn't get solid on footing with the previous head coach for what ever the reason, can be re-energized and refocused by what the player may perceive as a new or fresh start.
Also so a new head coach can see things in players the previous head coach didn't or the player can be a better a fit in a different style.
Not trying to rehash JT3 last couple years but the players he brought in were not fits for his very structured offensive style. I expect an uptick in production from Kaleb, Mosely and Mulmore. I also think that Walker will be a better player in an open and free NBA style offense which should allow his tremendous athleticism to shine vs some of the structure that JT3's offense which at times negates a players natural instincts and abilities.

Kaleb needs to channel his inner Stacey Augmon this year and give us at least 20 productive minutes per game.
He'll get some scoring help off the bench with Walker & Pickett, but he needs to show up with great D, leadership, and otherwise solid all-around play (given our guard & Center questions) to make us a better team.
The more consistent he and Jagan can become, the faster we'll start winning meaningful games.

Would like to see Kaleb given the command to shoot more often. Has good stroke but is hesitant to let it go.

Take it fwiw.. I'm hoping his performance in Kenner shows he's cprepared to make a nice leap this coming season.. In Kenner he was able to get to the rim at will and also started finishing (or hitting FTs). Those 2 things won't be as easy in the Big East. Hopefully his confidence stays high.

I agree that he's a good player and would improve or be more productive if he were given the green light. I think last year many of the players seemed to be on a leash, they seemed to not know what a good shot looked like, or was too afraid to take the shot. Good shots have to be taken to keep the defense honest. He looks more confident in his play. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes and is fundamentally sound.

I would love to see Kaleb break out this year. There are times when need forces performers to step up and achieve a higher level of achievement.
