"In Harris County, which includes Houston and is the state’s most populous county, areas with large Black populations were 44 percent more likely to have ballots rejected than heavily white areas." And, the "Republicans" are almost certainly very upset that it's only 44%. It seems DFW's protestations about racism in Texas get undercut more and more by the day.

It's one thing to have pockets of racism and radicalism. It's another thing for it to be necessary to have in 2022, on a message board for a top tier university, a discussion about whether or not, "All Votes Matter," and there are those here that support a "party" that thinks they don't. The most basic of rights as an American is now not, apparently, universally supported and defended vehemently. We're in a lot of trouble. It's worth reiterating that if they can subvert or revoke the rights of any of us, they can subvert or revoke the rights of all of us. Find a semblance of a spine or some sense of morality, "Republicans." We get it, if more people vote, you lose by more. It's called democracy. Maybe you lose for very good reasons.

Only MAGA GOP morons believe the Big Lie. They are the Big Stupid. Across the country, officials are openly resisting calls from allies of former president Donald Trump for mass arrests of people they claim stole the presidential election for Joe Biden. In fact, in swing states targeted by Trump, officials have so far brought only a handful of fraud prosecutions. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/03/23/election-2020-crimes/

Initial defeat for racist MAGA GOPer Death Cult DeSantis and his fellow racist GOP legislators. The only thing missing for the MAGA GOPers are their white sheets Saying that “Florida has a grotesque history of racial discrimination,” a federal district judge struck down most of a controversial election law passed in the state last year, and said the state can’t make any major changes to election regulations for the next 10 years unless a judge clears them first. U.S. District Judge Mark Walker agreed with voters who sued the state that the bill “runs roughshod over the right to vote, unnecessarily making voting harder for all eligible Floridians, unduly burdening disabled voters, and intentionally targeting minority voters — all to improve the electoral prospects of the party in power.” www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/03/31/judge-strikes-down-florida-election-law-changes/

All that's missing are white sheets. Maybe the MyPillow guy can expand his product line - MyWhiteSheets. How is this legal? That "umpire" Chief Justice Roberts declared preclearance not required for changes in voting procedures and redistricting. Otherwise, wannabe autocrat DeSantis and FL would have had to preclear the racial gerrymandering of the districts to dilute minority voters impact with the DOJ Civil Rights Division. I anticipate that lawsuits will be filed to attempt to stop this voter suppression. IOW, whether its the actions or inactions of the Republican Judiciary, Legislative or Executive Branch, it is open season on voting rights to ensure White supremacy. That is at least one thing we may say that the MAGA GOP believes in. Since the decision in Shelby County v. Holder, 133 S.Ct. 2612 (2013) states and jurisdictions have been free to implement changes in voting and redistricting without the preclearance process to determine whether those changes are discriminatory against minorities. On June 25, 2013, the United States Supreme Court held that it is unconstitutional to use the coverage formula in Section 4(b) of the Voting Rights Act to determine which jurisdictions are subject to the preclearance requirement of Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, Shelby County v. Holder, 133 S. Ct. 2612 (2013). The Supreme Court did not rule on the constitutionality of Section 5 itself. The effect of the Shelby County decision is that the jurisdictions identified by the coverage formula in Section 4(b) no longer need to seek preclearance for the new voting changes, unless they are covered by a separate court order entered under Section 3(c) of the Voting Rights Act.
