A teammate of Richards’ on Expressions Elite, four-star point guard Tremont Waters is ready for the end of the summer but the No. 39 ranked player in 2017 is also trying to enjoy one last run with his teammates.
Waters cut his list of finalists to a group of seven that includes Duke, Connecticut, Georgetown, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky and Yale and couldn’t help but get a little nostalgic when talking about what is likely to be his last grassroots summer tournament.
“It’s been a great run since I was five years old and started playing AAU with a fourth grade team when I was in kindergarten,” said Waters. “I’m going to miss AAU because after my school season I always look forward to it and showcasing my talents.”
Other than being set with a final seven, Waters isn’t sure what is the next move in his recruitment. He said that he has a few schools that he is sure he wants to visit officially but he’s not quite ready to reveal which programs those are. Additionally, Waters said that he and his family still had to discuss whether committing early or waiting until the spring of 2017 will be his best move.

I agree. Would be a great get. I know we are in his final 7, but do we actually have a legitimate chance?

I agree. Would be a great get. I know we are in his final 7, but do we actually have a legitimate chance? I think I read somewhere he is big on academics. If that's true then I'd say we would have at the very least a decent shot, Yales on his list too but Georgetown still has the basketball prestige that Yale does not (whether deserved at this point or not).

He didn't sound too enthused to talk about Georgetown. When the guy mentioned Indiana/Kansas/Kentucky he went on about how all those schools have had great success recently with smaller point guards (Yogi Ferrel, Tyler Ulis, Frank Mason) but when he mentioned Gtown he basically said we're saying what everyone else is saying. Only difference is we don't have the recent success to back our claims. With Kansas getting that 4-star guard that probably improves our chances a bit, but he might be a bit of a reach.

I don't think he ends up at UK... Indiana is a bigger threat imo

Fwiw this should take KU out of the running for Waters.. I would think Waters would eliminate Kansas from his list based on them getting a PG commitment. I would also think this commitment would impact Troy Brown considerably as well since Kansas also has Malik Newman redshirting this upcoming season and will be eligible for the 201-2018 season. The reason I say this commitment will impact Troy Brown significantly is because it was just yesterday that Brown confirmed one of his visit being to Kansas in October for "Late Night at the Phog". With Troy Brown being so adamant about his desires to play in the backcourt and Kansas already having 2 new backcourt players slotted to begin competing for Kanas in the 16-17 season, gotta figure Kansas will be out of the running for both Troy Brown and Tremont Waters. But it is recruiting and stranger things have happened.
