It is easy to see why so many schools are seeking his services; he will make an impact for someone.

www.gametimect.com/boys-basketball-new-haven-s-tremont-waters-leaves-south-kent-heading-notre-dame-west-haven/“(Coach Jason) Shea runs an organized system,” Ed Waters said. “Tremont being a point guard, you want the other kids to listen to him and want to play with him and not have a stigma against him. He’s a traditional, old-school point guard.” Shea said he is “delighted to have a great person and a great basketball player come to Notre Dame.” The Waters family was also impressed with the academics at Notre Dame. Tremont Waters was an A student at South Kent. Waters averaged 25 points per game for South Kent last season, earning a First Team All-NEPSAC AAA selection. Coach Kelvin Jefferson left the program in the off-season and was replaced by Bill Barton. Ed Waters said Tremont has not made any official visits yet, but has ones scheduled to Indiana, Georgetown and Kansas so far. “I want my son to continue his dialogue with teams and comfortable who he should play for,” Ed Waters said. “We are not rushing this decision. This isn’t a four-year decision, it’s a 40-year decision.”

Tremont's family seems REALLY high on the whole "school comes first" thing. "I need my son to get a degree,” Ed Waters said. “I would love for him to graduate and be able to learn how to make money in the real world, which college teaches you, and he can fall back on his degree. If you give him $10 million, how does he keep $10 million?” www.nhregister.com/sports/20131124/new-haven-native-tremont-waters-is-one-of-nations-top-freshmenI am weirdly optimistic here. It seems like of the three schools he has set to visit so far, we are by far the best for him academically. He had Yale on his list as well, but I think Georgetown can give him the great combination of basketball pedigree and elite academics. I know we might not have the recent success with guards he may be looking for, but Coach Solomon certainly does. This could be a great fit for all parties involved.

IU Site:
West Haven (Conn.) Notre Dame point guard Tremont Waters will take his official visit to Indiana in September, according to his father, Ed Waters.
The four-star prospect - who just completed a transfer to Notre Dame from South Kent (Conn.) High - will also visit Georgetown and Kansas in the same month

No real inside info but my buddy who's close to the IU recruiting gurus thinks this is theirs to lose.

No real inside info but my buddy who's close to the IU recruiting gurus thinks this is theirs to lose. I know a couple guys from IU that think of themselves as recruiting experts as well, and they always think that way about recruits. The Peegs.com premium board just pushes that idea into their heads on everybody. In reality, Waters is clearly the Hoosiers' #2 choice among class of 2017 PGs. Paul Scruggs is a much higher priority to them as an in-state kid. If they don't get Scruggs, then they'll push hard for Waters. And if that happened, and if Waters committed to IU, then David Beatty might fall into the Hoyas' lap.

In the past he's been pretty accurate with his predictions but as a fan, I'm sure he's a little biased. He seems to think that Scruggs is a strong lean to Xavier at the moment fwiw and they are focusing more on Waters unless they can convince Scruggs to come for an official visit.

Scruggs probably is an XU lean, which would be a huge get and make for a monster recruiting class. That said, I don't know if IU would even accept a commitment from Waters before Scruggs makes his decision. My take is the Hoyas have about a month as a window to get Waters before Scruggs makes a decision. The longer Scruggs holds out, the better for the Hoyas with Waters. In the meantime, hopefully the staff is hitting Beatty hard as well, as I think we're well-positioned for him if IU is no longer an option.

Man I want Waters. I just hope we can get him on campus. I don't get to excited about parents pushing the "school 1st" angle because to most a degree from IU is just as good as a degree from Gtown, or any Ivy.....but I think the campus, facilities and future team can sell the family. Along with the education....

Along with the education.... Waters would be the most highly ranked guard recruit for the Hoyas since Chris Wright, correct? I actually think, of the Brown/Jackson/Waters group of top 40-ish 2017 recruits, we have the best chance with Waters. IU has prioritized Scruggs over Waters and KU has prioritized Trae Young over Waters. If somehow those other schools get commitments from those kids before Waters chooses, we could be in a great position heading into his official visit.

Chris Wright was #31. Austin Freeman was #14. Otherwise, all of our other guard recruits have been outside the RSCI top 50.

"The dates we're not going to announce right now for several reasons, but he is going to make official visits to Georgetown, Kansas and Indiana," Ed Waters told Peegs.com. "Those three are schools we are definitely going to be visiting then we have to figure out the last two based on the relationships." The 5-foot-11 Waters recently cut his list to UConn, Duke, Georgetown, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky and Yale. After averaging 25 points per game last season at prep power South Kent (CT), Waters has transferred to Notre Dame-West Haven for his senior season. www.sny.tv/college-recruiting/news/recruiting-roundup-tremont-waters-jose-alvarado-isaiah-washington-scottie-lewis--bryan-antoine/197053124

I mean that seems to imply we're in his top 3.

If Langford picks Providence, I'd expect Uconn to jump back into the Waters sweepstakes..

Trae Young has scheduled his Kansas visit for October 21-23. Not sure if Kansas would accept a verbal from Waters prior to Young's decision. The Jayhawks already have a commitment from a combo guard out of TX.

I think I want this kid more than I wanted Lykes and I was probably right behind H4E on the Lykes train....this kid is fearless and he seems more of a true PG based off of his highlight tapes.....
