The 6'9 True Center/Post offered by JT3 and the staff this past weekend during his unofficial visit of the campus and attending the home game vs. Xavier. McCormack was teammates with Keldon Johnson last summer on Team Loaded-Virginia and will be playing a year up this summer (17U) with the Virginia squad.
"A wide and very strong big man who takes up a lot of space within the interior but has impeccably nimble feet in the lane, there is a lot to like with McCormack. The Norfolk native can already score over either shoulder in the painted area and out to eight-feet. Throw in his monstrous motor as he can produce whenever the game speeds up where he also rebounds his area with his super soft mitts and there looks to be major value with the productive frontcourt piece.
During the summer months, several well-acclaimed programs jumped on board with an offer to the interior presence which came from the likes of NC State, Virginia, Tech, Old Dominion, and Penn State. This past Saturday, McCormack made the short trip up north and got a glance at Georgetown, a program that dished out an offer of their own to him during his visit. “I liked it,” McCormack said. “The campus was amazing and I love how they are known for the development of their legendary big men.”.......

Looks very comfortable going off either shoulder, and for a big kid he has a really solid foundation of skills. Understatement but by the time he's a Senior I don't see many at the HS level being able to compete with that size strength and skill level...

Kid looks like he could become a player. Good footwork and decent offensive skill set. He needs to work on his conditioning if he wants to be a major D-1 player. At his current size he would would have all kinds of issues on defense and would be in constant foul trouble. A young Josh Smith!! ? Definitely worth the scholarship offer but hopefully the kid puts the work in off the court to slim down and improve his conditioning.

I say we take this guy. Let's make him a top priority. Did you see those foot moves?

Yes, there is a lot of sweetney/good Josh in his footwork/size/soft hands combination.

I attended Norfolk Academy as well so I can offer a little insight into the school, coach league etc. Its a private school that places a high importance on academics which should be a big positive for Georgetown. The school and conference in general were never good at basketball but I think that started to change with James Mcadoo (UNC) a couple of years ago. The league always had a player or two who would end up at American, VMI, William and Mary etc but never high level players. Recently more players like Curtis Jones and now David are popping up in the league which makes me think that the schools are starting to "recruit" for basketball. Overall I am weary of any recruit that comes from the TCIS conference just because of the competition I remember, but again times may have changed. I have 0 faith in his high s coach to help him develop so most of that would have to take place on his own time. I'm interested to see how he fares over the next couple of years on the AAU circuit against better competition as other players develop. Also hopefully this helps with Keldon

This dude is 15 or 16 years old?! He looks like Josh Smith playing against 8th graders in these clips.
If this guy can show success against college sized kids, seems like we should be involved.

Lets just wait a minute. These big men look great in HS because they never see guys their size (Hopkins anyone?). This dude is way too big for his competition-at least in this clip. I'd want to see him up against guys 6'7" -6'10" who are quick.

I'm sorry but I just see a big, fat kid who is too slow to play in our league. And the competition in these videos? At first I thought they were playing girls. Cmon man...

The kid looks to have some skills but he does look a little too slow at this point. All those impressive spin moves would be offensive fouls or turnovers against good athletic defenders. Worth following the kid to see if he can improve conditioning and quickness/agility. He is definitely a big kid!!!

Obviously needs to continue to work on his body but When those clips were shot he was 3 1/2 years away from College B-ball. The clips are from Last Summer circuit (2015) so the kids he's playing against will be LM MM HM types in his class. The last is of Scout Focus Camp with other rated kids. At 6'10 280 he would make our guys look small 2 and he looks like a deer compared to Josh IMO...
Not many bigs at his age and size have that footwork and are comfortable shooting hooks over both shoulders, heck I could count the makes Josh had with his left hand on one hand... I don't see the angst but guess we'll all see how he develops

Smh why even comment if you have no idea what you're talking about? There has never been freshman in high school who was BE ready. Maybe try thinking a little. Think about where he projects to be in 1, 2, or maybe 3 years. Nobody is saying we should get him on the roster next season. But maybe even learn a little about his backrground (and his team's) before being so critical. Dude has weight on his shoulders - that's where most of it is - that's baby fat.
