Honestly...I think the guys gave it all they had today...especially when it appeared to be a blowout. I do not think they had much more in the tank to give. Not defending this putrid season in any way, just kudos for the guys on the court who made it a game in those final minutes.

Why have Tre take the final shot over Ike at the end? Ike was open for the 3 just before Tre drove.

I find this entire season exhausting. I could be fine resigned to the fact that we are not a good team and focus on other things. Then there is a 14-1 run and instead of being happy it further frustrates me. I am not trying to be negative, but this is the most talented and under performing HOYA team that I can remember. JTIII should either be held accountable or should explain how a younger team under his system takes an extra year to mature. I am simply at a loss.

Our boys were all scared to shoot the ball. Even Ike had the deer in headlights look after DSR fouled out. I really was hoping Tre would step up and be aggressive in OT but he didn't shoot until we only had 10 secs left. I'm not sure where the offense is coming from next year because no one can generate there own shot. I kinda wished Riyan would have shot the step back three with 8 secs left. I hope Ike continues to play like that for the remainder of the season. We need both Ike and LJ drive hard to the basket and putting pressure on the D........

The "almost win" again... Govan disappeared with more TOs (6) than points (4), plus all those allowed lay-ups. We need a grad big for next season. I do think People are underselling Akoy. From what people saw seem defense and passing and court savvy are strengths? Definitely relative to this group.

what is the worst part? the turnovers, the constant fouling or the overall lack of basic skills from game to game? The coaching that does not get the players ready to succeed.

No basketball IQ. In JT III's system the players play like robots, they forget how to penetrate, run a proper fast break they just pass the ball east to west for 25 seconds and then shoot for three. That is the disparity in fouls, Butler had 45 free throws against 24 for Georgetown. We need to go in a different direction. That is reason why we can not recruit a point guard. I really do not think that JT III knows what to do with a PG, the PG will be discourage to penetrate.

Didn't see game, but LJ put up numbers (other than fouls) we expected this season. His three point shooting has improved, which is probably one of the biggest things we and maybe scouts wanted to see...
Still, this season really hinged on Ike and everyone knew it (at least for us to make a splash). He still is the biggest reflection of why this team hasn't taken it to the next level - not been the alpha we thought, less consistent, streaky shooting, bad passing, no inprovement in handle. And losing your 4 in PW plus playing freshmen just magnifies this.
I think everyone needs to look in the mirror (especially on fouling) but in my mind Ike and Coach (es) shoulder a bit more blame than others versus my expectations.
I suspect (for now)they are back next season, but this is much work to do this summer.

With so few scoring options you would think Govan would be in and ready to shoot up top?

These late game runs validate even more that the robotic system we play is silly. When we play simple, north-south basketball, we play much better.

Final Thoughts:
1. DSR lead the team in scoring with 26 pts, 4 rebs, 4 assts 2. Gtown outrebound Butler 40 to 31 3. Hoyas had a season high 21 turnovers vs 11 assts 4. The team fought hard after being down 13 pts with 2:37 left in the game to take Butler into O.T. 5. Gtwon FT's (20/24, 83.3%), Butler (28/44, 63.6%)--this is the main reason the game got into O.T, in additon to the Hoyas going on a 14-1 run to end regulation
Grade:C
If this game would have ended in regulation then this grade would have been a D or F. For the most part of the 2nd half the wheels had came off for the Hoyas, but as we have seen when the team scraps the offense and defense and just pressure in addition to trying to score as quickly as possible, who and behold the team clicks all of a sudden. Today is at most a morale victory, as the team ends the month of Feb., 1-5 with the lone win over St. Johns. Changes need to be made in the off season to fix a disappointing season, but the talent is there, too bad the coaching can only get it to show up when the Hoyas are in a hurry up mode.

Can never question the effort of this group. The efficiency and effectiveness is another matter. If anyone still does not think we need a lead guard watch the first 30 minutes of this game. The constant turnovers because of poor ball control and passing decisions was awful and ultimately cost Georgetown the game. The point was made by Lappas several times, Georgetown has no guards other than DSR and a poor playing Campbell. We need a big that can defend/rebound and a lead guard next season otherwise it will be only a slightly better outcome versus this year for the Hoyas.

Somebody help me out please - the local CBS station in Dallas switched to the UT-OU game after the GU game ended in regulation. I switched to the CBS Sports website to watch the OT, but it stops right at the .20 mark in OT, with GU down 2. I now know the result - but what exactly happened on that possession - down 2 with the ball?
