This might be a good thing for us if they guard Govan out to the three point line, can anybody say alley-oop to Copeland. This maybe all Copeland needs to get his shot going in the right direction. In fact, Derrickson may want a piece of that action as well. I don't know about that. I think Derrickson, Hayes, Govan and Cameron would have a nice "worst vertical" battle. I mean I love Marcus, but has he even dunked in a game yet? I don't recall seeing one. And Govan seems to just barely get high enough somehow. Derrickson hasn't dunked the ball as far as I know of but if Govan can pass the ball from the top of the key to a cutting Derrickson along the baseline it should be money dunk or no dunk. As far as Govan dunking, he has dunked the ball plenty this year, at 6'11 you don't need to get to far off the floor.

May have been a good thing to have been stuck in Hartford together for a couple of days. No distractions and the ability to concentrate on what needs to be done over the next 6 weeks. We will see tonight.

Hold Watson under 18 pts (27 last time); DSR needs 20 pts (17 pts); win the rb battle (27 vs 32 in favor of CU); and the TO battle (15 for GU vs 9). We win.

Have a feeling we are going to pound the ball inside tonight.

I expect a very ugly foul plagued game but not one we necessarily lose. Just don't expect crisp basketball.

I forgot the FT battle (7 attempts vs 25 in favor of Creighton! Plus, we made 3 of 7 for our worst %) and foul battle (20 vs 10). What a bad game!

A FT disparity like that cannot happen at home. If it just comes out even, we will be OK, but 7/25 at home would be a horror story.
Even out the FTs and cut the TOs and G'town should be just fine.

I expect a very ugly foul plagued game but not one we necessarily lose. Just don't expect crisp basketball. Anything's possible, but it'd cut against our previous matchup. The combined foul total (30) in Omaha was the lowest in any of our games this season by a significant margin. The next three lowest were Bryant and Brown (34) and the very slow paced Villanova game (36). Creighton and Nova are our only two BE games with a combined foul total under 40--shoot, the St John's game it was 52. Are our two Big East losses in the games with the worst foul differential for us? You betcha!

With the early start, the government closed and the giant piles of snow everywhere I expect to be pretty lonely at the phone booth tonight.
Or maybe the students will be bored after two days with no classes and will want to get out and celebrate a win?

My thinking wasnt based on past performance but more how I would approach the game if I was coaching Georgetown or Creighton. For Georgetown, I would focus a lot on trying to get it down low early and get some points in the paint to (fingers crossed) open things up later for our shooters. I'm hoping (expecting?) that this means our bigs will get to the line a bunch early and often. And, if I was Creighton, I would tell them to rentlessly attack the basket all game because most of the time you're either going to score or draw a foul. Add the two together and voila! Fouls galore!

To be fair, that is kinda how both teams approached the first game. Bradley had 5 FG attempts in the first 3 1/2 minutes, in part because we went to him on four consecutive possessions in a 2-minute span. Weirdly, 8 of our next 10 shots were three pointers. IDK exactly that the two were related, but there you go. The "get to the line early and often" part didn't work out of course--Hayes and Govan combined for 1 FT attempt, and the team only shot 7. Creighton...yeah, I'd say drive and score/draw a foul worked.

I hope they got plenty of rest it would suck to have to play right after getting off a jet.

We are sagging off Watson even after switches. Making a concerted effort to keep him from getting by guys.
