Taking this game I think would take a near perfect performance from us and a poor performance from them, honestly.
I kinda expect a 12-17 pt loss.
I will more than happily eat crow if I'm wrong.

Personally, I think the Xavier players are licking their chops...

Not very confident of this tough test on the road.
But hey - we can't shoot any worse. Can we! Um - can we???

With Sumner back, this has the potential to be very ugly for the Hoyas. Xavier will come into the game ranked in the top 5.
If we were 7 point dogs at home vs. Nova, what will the line be for this? Somewhere in 11-13 range I'd think?

this is going to be ugly. Xavier beat up the hoyas 3 times last year (the hoyas made a run to make it a game late in the BET). this years hoyas team is not nearly as physically or mentally tough as last year. we will have a hard time breaking 50.

Xavier has yet to beat Villanova in the reconfigured Big East. But they've defeated Georgetown four times. It will most likely be five times come Tuesday. Xavier is currently ranked #7 in the country and the game is being played at the Cintas Center (a tough place to play for visitors). Villanova/Xavier fans are already looking forward to their rematch at Cintas on February 24th.

I for one think we have a fighters chance against Xavier. I did not like our chances against nova, but for some odd reason, I think we will show up in this one. Wishful thinking maybe.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this game too. I'm not sure that we will win, but I think we will play well. We've kept it close against all the good teams we have played this year. If we lose, it wouldn't surprise me for it to look a lot like Creighton, where they pulled away late.
The biggest thing is that we will need to make our shots when we can. The offense has to move, and our defense has to keep improving. At the end, too many talented players on this team to not beat somebody good this year. I think we will grab at least one win this week, and I would like to go ahead and start with Xavier.

Not optimistic at all, this game is going to be very ugly. Mack has his team very well prepared especially vs. GU. Hope for the best.

Xavier... Forget the NCAA, forget the disappointing season, forget about whatever Xavier is ranked, or all the other storylines for a moment. This is a team that smacked the Hoyas around 3 times last season. Those losses were ugly. I bet the guys remember that, from the coaching staff on down. I'm fired up about this game.

Right. I want an old school, circa 1991, Big East fight. Hard fouls (and lots of 'em), no easy buckets, battles for the boards, bodies on the floor, etc. If we can turn the game into that, we have a shot. I like this 55-50 point range stuff.

I thought this after both the first and second losses last year, and we all know how that turned out. I admire your enthusiasm, but I don't see this going well at all. Especially since we are a less cohesive team this year and Xavier seems to have really improved, I don't expect it to really even be close. I hope I am wrong.

The truly weird thing about this year's Hoyas is that we seem to play our best against really good teams. I was sure we would get blown out by Maryland, Duke, and Nova. Yet we had a good shot at winning all three. Meanwhile, we lay eggs against our OOC mid major opponents. So while I also think we will get blown out by Xavier I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't a very close game.

We've got to figure out their 1-3-1 and Hayes needs to be on going right at Reynolds. Hayes & Govan being off on Saturday is why we lost to Nova. Ochefu could barely walk out there. Would be a great win but my hopes are muted at best.

On the other hand, that will likely be a reprise of the Nova game, where we had 4 fouls in one minute starting at 19 minute of the second half. Good times.
