When's the game against Pitt this week? Geez, troll much? Please be clear when you reference these scrimmages. They are not "secret" as the thread title would indicate. They occur behind closed doors because of NCAA rule. Schools cannot open their gyms to fans in preseason. Some universities schedule 1 exhibition game vs a D2 or D3 school(or military travel team) & sell tickets. The option of playing 2 D1 opponents in closed scrimmages is much more attractive option IMO, as it is better preparation for the season, especially for a young team. BETTER?

Why is the title in quotes? Are we doubting they exist?
We will likely get some news out of the Pitt one (which I would suspect is this Saturday), but we never seem to get anything out of the ones on Georgetown's campus.

I think you all take pr's choice of a title to this thread a little too seriously.

You win the award for the most random topic to get worked up about. I think you need more CAPS.

Maybe he should have used asterisks instead? Bear in mind GU has 3 years remaining in the series vs. Kansas. Many young men who leave a program when recruited over take into consideration the opportunities to play against the team they leave behind. GU plays KU this season, and the next 2. That's 2 guaranteed matchups against his former teammates/coaches. By *NO* means am I insinuating the staff is, should be, or could be interested in him, but he may very well have an interest in GU. Just a thought.

Here I was thinking that my 12,000th post would be an insightful analysis of what our offensive system might look like this year or maybe a thank you to DFW & mods for their hard work in keeping up this sports website/forum (the only one I’m a member of) where we get to share our passion for our beloved Hoya hoops in good times and bad. Instead, part of it will be used to reply to Oh My!’s affected and accusatory reply to my 11,999th post. Oh My!, I see that you have come out of the woodwork to post twice since January of this year. While I don’t know what fussy emotion prompt you to “troll” my post with an exasperated “Geez, troll much?” and the flaming all-caps “BETTER?”, I see that the title of my thread went over your head. If you didn't know, you could've asked nicely instead of getting all flustered. Let me explain: the quoted secret scrimmages is a historical HT reference to a similarly entitled and identically quoted thread started by fellow poster alleninxis several years ago. I also see that you did not go all bunkers there. You can go ahead and find it yourself if you want. Yaboy, thanks for the answer! SF, thanks for showing OM how to ask nicely (with a little twist) if one doesn't know... To the longtime posters of HT: reading through that thread, I came across the names of several posters that are missed like jerseyhoya34 (not sure what happened to him) and idhoya (R.I.P.). Also, that thread has bronxhoya87's last post and the last time he logged in (Oct. 30, 2011 at 3:42 pm). What ever happened to him? We’ve had several characters come around here throughout the years and he was one of them. Bronxito, I hope you’re lurking and that all’s well. EDIT: Having entered the exclusive 12,000th Club, all I will say is that Lic is wearing a silk smoking jacket and has an unlit pipe in his mouth.

I think you all take pr's choice of a title to this thread a little too seriously. Spirit is the winner. Now, any news from today's 'secret scrimmage'? When is the second one?

Lol! Jeff Goodman also uses 'secret scrimmage'. Hopefully, Oh My! doesn't find out or he'll call Goodman a troll.

Oh My! I wonder if the sources was the same "little birdie" who frequently shares inside info, rumors and scuttlebutt with our own lichoya?

This is 3rd hand info from the Pitt side, so take it with a grain of salt - but Marcus kept shooting the leather off the ball yesterday and even..drumroll... Jessie hit some shots from the outside. Both teams showed well offensively. Was told Pitt starters had success (better, even) but bench unit was in G'Town's favor. Likely how the 'fairly even' came about.

I'm glad to hear that the team played well offensively, I believe this team will be a tough out by mid season.. I hope the staff takes advantage of this rule change, it's an easy opportunity to get some pub for the team..

It makes it easier to see why a "get hyped" thread gets derailed so quickly...

It will be worth the lack of pub of a secret scrimmage. But, I'm glad to see that DSR is back after missing him in Italy.
