Take the chance, in hind sight if we need another guard JTII could either wait for the following year or have Mourning pay for his ride.

Can we please dispense with the "Let Zo Jr. pay his own way" posts at this point? Ain't happening. Isn't necessary. Is disrespectful. Mourning will contribute during his time at GU.

I don't think anyone disagrees that he earned his scholly - they are just wearing Hoya-tinted glasses, figuring Zo can afford the tuition, and it would give us an extra one. But I agree - time to let it go.

From what I've seen of Zo this summer, yes he earned his scholarship! Although I did reignite this argument I have not been a major proponent of him giving back his scholarship just to set everybody straight. But I'll let it go but my point here is, if Zo gave back his scholarship and we had the chance to obtain a recruit that could get us to next level would it be worth it?

I'm so sick of all these fake righteous postings. Not one person on here is suggesting Trey doesn't deserve his scholly or that Zo should pay. But it's also not absurd to think he might want to pay. He donated a lot more than 4 years tuition over the years including to the JT Center. And people were more than willing to ask him to donate for that. So why exactly is it disrespectful to suggest he could pay Trey's way for far less money and give the team s competitive advantage? Whatever.

Alonzo is a wealthy dude and that's all well and good. His son, on the other hand, is not. And his son earned his scholarship like the other guys on schollies did. Not to mention, if Zo wanted to pay Trey's tuition, he'd likely be doing so already. But, as YaBoy said, back to Kobie.

I don't know if this was posted earlier in this thread, but here it is -- from the "Scout's Take" re: his earlier commitment to Bama:
What he brings: Eubanks is a volume scorer on the wing. A year ago, when he starred next to Cheick Diallo during his senior season at Our Savior New American, Eubanks was used primarily as a three-point shooter. This season at Elev-8, he was utilized as a primary option on the offensive end, and was able to show his full repertoire. In total, what we've seen is a big and strong wing who can score the ball from various spots on the floor and at all three ranges. He can absorb contact going to the rim, has definite three-point range, but has also become very proficient utilizing his pull-up game to score over top of smaller defenders and even bringing them to the block where he can post them up.
----------------
In addition, his birthday is 12/17/95, so if he picks GU he will be a 20 year old freshman when he joins the team. He is older than Sophomore LJ Peak. That maturity can make a big difference. Plus he played an extra "PG" year of prep school ball, and is 6'5, 205 Lbs. He' a grown man. Eubanks would arrive with a better chance to contribute early than the average recruit. Even if he doesn't see much of the floor this year, he would be way ahead for next season. And he can def help in practice right away, since we really have only 3 guards on the team.
I hope he wants to be a HOYA!

Scholly situation has had no impact on us landing a big recruit. The argument is irrelevant.
