Wow I wonder if he will now be part of the 16 class or will remain in the 17 class and attend a prep school? The best situation IMO would be for him to go to college and red shirt as a freshman like Mamadi Diakite is currently doing at Virginia or Edmond Sumner did at Xavier last year. Like others have said, he doesn't look like he will be ready to compete at the high major D1 level in the near future. He needs some time in the weight room and to physically mature. He does have a ton of upside. He is definitely more prospect then player right now. It's good to be the son of his current high school coach. To think that didn't play even a minor factor would be nieve.

Did Georgetown even offer Mading a scholarship, or was it just small talk from the coaching staff?

Very disappointing. Mading was raw, but tons of upside. I think someone like him could have flourished in our offense in a couple years. I wonder how much we pushed for him, or the Hurley connection was too much to overcome.

This program doesn't need players with upside. They need players with nowside.

Let's get this kid. Great handles for a big guy, as well as shooting ability

Was a teammate of Jagan's so hopefully that's in our favor. Any word on who the other schools jumping into the mix since his de-commitment?

Watched this kid a bunch of times this year. He has potential but is still very raw. Overall the production was not there.

I wonder if AZ State kind of nudged him out the door. Reason being, they were a popular landing spot for Thon Maker at one point. Once Thon Maker was out of the picture, maybe they weren't as high on the kid. I am fine if this kid is a plan B option. But should not be a priority. He's a project.

Between Garza and Mading----what is the preference? I would guess Mading. A lot more defensive potential. He is longer and more athletic. Hoping for someone more advanced than the two as I am unsure of their ability to contribute early.

Garza by a mile. His production has been solid accross the board this summer. Personally have concerns about him on the defensive side but at least I know what I'm getting.

Garza did amazing at NBPA top 100 camp, I expect him to shoot up the rankings soon enough. Both are solid prospects though and both could thrive at Georgetown.

Garza is an Iowa lean. Don't know his timetable for committing.
