Tre was reported to have some cramping in the last game. It is probably still hot and I am sure they are doing a fair amount of walking, so who knows if he has been able to rest yet.

campbell left one of the previous games late, kind of hopping/limping off the court. I think I read somewhere that he had cramped up. So it could be some kind of injury related thing. This does provide some support for people anxious about having only 2 guys who can truly play point guard - both no playing today, and we have a rough game. Although today's problem clearly seemed to be D. even on the brief, fuzzy periscope broadcast - it was clear that we were giving up way too many open 3s early, then later in the game we were allowing the opponent to get the ball deep into the lane in isolation situations for easy baskets. Not having the two guards probably was not the main issue today, it was the defense.

Who played point? Was it actually LJ and KJ? Did White get some run as the primary ball handler/facilitator?

I hear two of BC Atletas players were Šarūnas Marčiulionis and Arvydas Sabonis.

Not having the two guards probably was not the main issue today, it was the defense. Or.... not having DSR and Campbell could be related to how the defense played. Giving up 95 points to these guys required pretty much a team wide defensive breakdown! For the portion shown on periscope (first 10 minutes, last 5 minutes), they were running pretty standard court spreading offense, and firing up a 3 any time they had even a little bit of daylight. Many of their misses were way, way off. But they made a lot of them, and they got plenty of very open looks. Then late in the game, when we defended the three more aggressively, they repeatedly got the ball into the lane with no help defense (everyone was out near the 3 point line) and converted easily over/around their individual defender. This was clearly a case of a young team that still has a lot to learn about how to play defense. The coaching staff will certainly have plenty to work with in terms of defensive "coaching points", because we got torched about as badly as possible. All that said - with the offense that DSR/Campbell may have provided, we still might have been able to pull out the game by outscoring them. and if they had not had a good outside shooting game, we also could have won. But this game really looked like every awful loss in the NCAA tournament over the past 8 years - less talented team gets red hot from outside, we lose some of our defensive composure, and things kind of fall apart from there. It is of course a meaningless game, but it sure was unpleasant to follow on line and watch for the final 5 minutes. For me, this game stirred up all the old wounds and anxieties, even in an exhibition game. Of course, no need to panic at all - the coaches and players have plenty of opportunity to learn from a bad game and develop a sound defense. So much better for this to happen in one of the first games they play together, since we have seen it happen all too often in their final game of a season!

This clip shows that Kaleb has a nose for the ball.. The sweep over move to get past that dude's weak @ss attempt at a box out was nice imo, some kids just let themselves get boxed out especially freshman in blowout games.. When I watch Kaleb, I see a little smaller/more skilled version of JYD. He's more aggressive and physical than he looks, and does a lot of different things to help the team win.

Well, back to reality. I hope we don't go back to the "I'm-sure-they'll-miss-the-next-one" defense that has ended various recent Hoya seasons.
Looking forward to b&g's report, although who is to blame him if he files it tomorrow after a bunch of vino tonight.

Although perimeter defense has been a problem for recent Hoya teams, it should be remembered that this team that played today is comprised entirely of freshmen and sophomores and inexperienced upperclassmen.
