A Freshman and a Sophomore wow, wheres the leadership? Bryant hasn't even played yet, ISMH! Holt is the same guy who ran over teammate Devin Davis with his car in the IU parking lot while inebriated. Devin Davis ended up with a traumatic brain injury and was dismissed in June for smoking weed. Bryant is from Huntington prep like Jones. Maybe IU isn't the best place for Huntingtin prep to be sending their kids.

I remember hearing about the car incident but not the brain injury and weed, wow this team is out of control!

I remember hearing about the car incident but not the brain injury and weed, wow this team is out of control! Well the traumatic brain injury was a result of being run over by drunk Holt and his car. So that was the same incident. The weed was later and is what got Davis kicked off the team.

Not sure whether I would characterize the Indiana program as "out of control," seeing as IU takes great pride in its reputation as a "party school," but this does make one wonder about how Tom Crean is being viewed in Bloomington right now.
I checked out btownbanners.com, the IU basketball board, regarding their perspective. According to a board moderator, IU has a three-strike policy as to violations of this nature. This is Holt's second strike (the first occurring last season with the automobile accident), so he is looking at a suspension, but not dismissal (which is apparently reserved for the third strike).
The prevailing thought at btownbanners is that Crean is coaching for his job this season, so any penalties will be light as to offending players.

Yes but Devin Davis was booted after his second strike. (First strike for being drunk when run over by an inebriated Holt, Second strike for being caught smoking weed). I think a couple of the other guys were booted after their second strike for drinking. So if Crean is to be consistent then Holt is gone. I mean it would be smart to get rid of him anyway because Holt seems like a bad influence and a disaster waiting to happen.

It's not a basketball policy; it's university-wide, from what I saw at btownbanners. Candidly, Crean might not discipline any player at all for any reason, unless they professed a dislike for Diet Coke.
The first violation calls for in-school counseling. Is it possible that we never heard about Devin Davis's first strike?

I know college kids do stupid stuff sometimes but hitting a person while driving drunk is just "a strike" against the guy? Wow.
In any case, I doubt these incidents make a dent in the mind of most recruits.

Holt will be booted. You are going to be on a short leash there because of the sheer volume of incidents around the team. That and Crean doles out punishment when it is convenient. Look for Bryant to get a one game suspension against a D-iii team in a scrimmage.

Not sure that this thread at this point has anything to do with Curtis Jones? Hope the kid with brain damage sues Crean and IU for a lifetime of free education on the citizens of Indiana (if he is unable to complete his degree!)

I wouldn't be surprised if Jones committed on his trip to IU! I hope he doesn't and comes to Georgetown but would not be surprised if he did.

"Team leardership is less than poor," Tom Crean has totally lost it and it's been gone for awhile.
