Yikes, what an awful choice! Will any fans even be able to tell the difference? There were a lot of good options, and the coach basically did not reward creativity at all.
It almost seems like the contest violated the good faith that putting creativity in submissions would be rewarded.

Dan. You screwed up. You posted an image of the current court design.

This one would have been incredible.

Eh it's fine. Not much of a change, but hey it's not embarrassing. No one is going to mock this design. Another plus is the kente cloth lane means DFW's head will explode.

Yawn. Any of the three runners-up would have been better choices imo. Instead we get the same court with a slightly varied lane design. I guess it doesn't really matter as long as the product on top of it is new and exciting.

Embrace the kente!
I had a lot of fun working on this contest and enjoyed all the feedback (good and bad) from you guys.
Some of your input really got me thinking what coach and the fine people at McDonough would like, so I streamlined the design incredibly. I'm very proud of the new classy look that got picked and hope it stays forever (ok, just a couple years).

Once we found out JT3 would have to approve the winner, we all should have known that it was not going to be a radical departure from what is there now. This is a nice, abit tiny, change.
Would have loved to see Jack at center court or main campus incorporated into the design, however.

According to Casual, it had to go through Fox Sports as well as JT3, and Fox Sports nixed having the court be gray

According to Casual, it had to go through Fox Sports as well as JT3, and Fox Sports nixed having the court be gray From a television perspective, I just do not think the gray court was practical because we wear grey uniforms at home. That, combined with the awful lighting at the Verizon Center, would have made the team blend too much into the floor, and I think regularly wearing white home uniforms to solve that problem would be out of the question. Now, if Fox Sports could do something about the poor lighting at the Verizon Center, they would have my full support.

I would love to have seen the watermark Jack incorporated into the design.

Wow I can't believe this is the winner. Zero style and creativity points. Disappointed.

To recap: We had a contest to design a floor and the only appreciable change is the addition of kente cloth design in the lane.
Let us not forget that kente has nothing to do with Georgetown tradition and we never won while wearing it.

I'm an old guy so I've learned that hyperbole and snark is that way things get noticed in the brave new world but, "never won while wearing it"? Really?

There was no kente to be found on the 84 Hoyas.

I am sorry I must have missed all of our great "kente clad" triumphs. We went from 1989 to 2007 without a BET largely during the kente era. We went from 1985-2007 without a Final Four largely during the kente era. Listen, at the end of the day it really doesn't matter but there is nothing about kente that reminds this long time fan of success. Feel free to belittle my opinion as you wish.

What DOES remind you of long term success and could be incorporated into the court design?

Seems to me the right side "Hoyas" should be facing in the opposite direction.
