If we get a visit over Kentucky, gotta be a good sign. Not saying he would be ours, just that it would be encouraging.

Seems like he's agonizing over it and not a clear cut decision. I figure if he wasn't serious about comin to Gtown, we wouldn't even be in discussion. We deserve an official...and give him a 1st class pitch.

Yes give him a 1st class pitch, on his own merit. He's a very good player..it would be a win- win outcome!

The skinny – It wasn’t a surprise when more top programs entered the mix for Johnson as the summer AAU circuit ended, although you have to wonder what they were waiting on. Most notably, Kentucky jumped into the mix by getting Johnson on campus recently for an unofficial visit, and then immediately extending him an offer. Of course, any time Kentucky offers, there’s a real chance the Wildcats come away with the prospect, and they are strongly in the mix. However, it doesn’t sound like, at least right now, Kentucky was able to immediately establish itself as a favorite like it does for most five-star prospects it offers late in the process. Before that, Florida State made a strong push to secure an official visit from Johnson (next weekend) and Maryland has remained firmly in the picture for a long time. NC State will now receive an official visit as well. Basically, this recruitment is turning into one of the biggest battles of the 2018 class, which isn’t all that surprising given how great Johnson was consistently during the AAU circuit. Fortunately for the Longhorns, no program has recruited Johnson more often, more consistently, and with more attention than them. And no program was in better position heading into August. Yes, Texas long ago identified a top Virginia prospect it wanted, and has been recruiting him for years... again. Speaking of Virginia prospects Texas recruited for years, we’ve heard Texas freshman point guard Matt Coleman could play a huge role in this weekend’s official visit. The idea of playing alongside Coleman, someone Johnson knows and respects, is very appealing to the five-star prospect. If Texas is going to win this battle, it needs to hit a home run this weekend and remind Johnson why he liked the Longhorns so much from the jump. texas.rivals.com/news/official-visit-preview-texas-hosts-its-top-priorities-this-weekend

So his coach says FSU, UMCP, Kentucky, UT and NCState are "his five schools." Will this board a) treat that as only describung his 5 officials, b) assume that means we are OUT or c) spend hundreds of hours and key strokes debating a and b.... hmmm, let's see....

Unless something drastically changes, I don't see how we are in it with Keldon. There are absolutely zero signs pointing to Georgetown. If playing with his brother was a big pull, we would have heard it by now. And Keldon has never said that.

I take it to mean his 5 official visits. I think we're still in the mix for him. He can visit us anytime.

I'm not predicting anything one way or the other (as I would never try to climb inside the heads of teenagers), but fact is: the type of benefits he can get from an unofficial to GU may well outweigh the benefits of an official anywhere else. He can likely stay in his brother's dorm anytime he wants to, attend practice as a family member, attend classes, etc. He just can't get a meal at the Tombs and have the team pay. Don't sweat the technicalities of recruiting, folks.

Keldon Johnson, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound small forward from Oak Hill Academy (VA), took an official visit to Kentucky this weekend. “It went really well,” his father Chris said Monday evening.
“The message that Coach Cal is preaching is that if he works hard and plays like he’s playing now, he could come in there and would have a chance to play and a chance to start. But he would have to come in ready to go because at Kentucky nothing is given to you.”
Johnson is working with a list of Kentucky, Texas, N.C. State, Maryland and Florida State, but Kentucky is right up there.
“Getting to talk to Cal, you see the real Cal,” Chris said. “He really loves the kids, and I could see Keldon playing there. I think it would be a great opportunity.”

Keldon, Do not forsake us yet. We're building a new dream...we want you in it! Please don't make any hasty decisions...something great is coming.
