You were wrong about your reading comprehension competency. Also, you have no knowledge of how DSR came to his decision or how he came to change his mind nor the level of involvement of the staff. Again, you know nothing and yet you act like you do. Without knowing the framework for DSR's original decision and his subsequent change of heart, the fact that you have the audacity to call either a bad decision says more about you than him. Quick question... what level of consultation did DSR get? Please do enlighten us. You have no clue. None at all. But you can judge the situation just fine with zero information. Well done. That said, if a player makes a decision to leave and has given his all for three years, would you prefer his college coach to trash him? It seems that's what you'd prefer. You can post whatever you'd like. But don't act like you know things you don't and please don't disrespect guys that have put all they have into the program and have gotten it done in the classroom as well. This is a problem, as a community, that we're very lucky to have. Not sure you have no more knowledge than I do other than that's easy for you to say. I know that at a minimum he handled this whole scenario incredibly poor. Before you release news of hiring an agent and entering the draft you better have all of your ducks in a row. If DSR comes back that is good for all of us but this wasn't handled properly by someone. Perhaps a lesson for those that follow but don't discount that this issue was created by the way it was released which came from the player and the coach which is what created this thread. Man, you are thick. Where was it stated he hired an agent?

Here is the original press release(emphasis added by me): www.guhoyas.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/033115aaa.htmlThe 'thread wars' rule comes into play here: eagle54, tashoya, Frazier and others have restated their opinions to each other several times over here. No need to rehash it again. Do it via PM now if you feel the compelling need to do so. Clear enough?

I think one interesting feature of this is the incredibly short amount of time players have to decide what they are going to do and that change is only a few years old. As I recall Hollis had 3 or 4 weeks to decide and come back and when Summers and Green were looking there was almost a 2 month window to meet with teams before having to decide whether to return to school. I think the scenario described in Casual makes sense if DSR only had a few weeks to decide which would be April 14th. What could he do except ask the coach for help contacting teams to see if they were interested in watching him play/practice. There is no time to go to a combine or group practice since all the decisions would have to be made before that is possible.

Anytime anyone talks about Coach K and Roy Williams caring about their players, remember that they were driving forces behind moving up the NCAA deadline to before the spring signing period so that they could know whether or not they need to replace players leaving early for the pros before all the good late signees committed elsewhere. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog/_/name/katz_andy/id/6045445/proposal-move-nba-draft-early-entry-withdrawal-date-voted-april

jt3 cares about the student athletes and seemed to suggest changes that would help the STUDENT Athletes even if it made the coaches lives more difficult GREAT COACH man for others very proud of him and our program IT IS ABOUT MUCH MORE THAN JUST THE BBALL.

Actually, if you listen to some posters on here, JT3 doesn't care, and would ask a current player to give up his scholarship so a new player could come in.

How would asking a player to give up their scholarship (when their family can afford the tuition) show that JT3 doesn't care?

I don't get all the anger in this thread. My posts have always been complimentary of the player. I think its odd that there were big public announcements, and then silence. Some of you guys don't think that's odd. So, we just disagree.
One guy here in particular keeps demanding "evidence" as if this were some kind of episode of "Law and Order." Its not, its a place where we talk about what we perceive is happening. College sports aren't very transparent in any case and our program is tighter than most.
Lastly, its not character assassination to kick around whether a player foregoing a degree is making a good or bad decision. Particularly since kits been made clear that we don't know key facts: what overseas salaries are truly available, what is the deal about Hoyas looking to return for their degrees, etc.
Given all this lack of solid information, some of you guys need to throttle back and turn off the flame throwers

"I really like the group we're going to have next year," Thompson said. "Because of what we went through this past year, we have experienced, quality players. They all can do things. We've got D'Vauntes coming back as a senior and he's going to be one of the better guards in the country. We've also got big Jessie Govan coming in as a freshman and he's going to add a different element. Offensively, he can do a lot of different things. He's big, he's physical, but at the same time he's really skilled. He's got a great feel for the game." As does Copeland, a player who seems primed to have a similar type of jump as the one Otto Porter made from his freshman to sophomore seasons. "I think he's going to have a breakout year,” Thompson said of the 6-9 Copeland, who averaged 6.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 20 minutes. "It's only been two weeks since the season ended, but he's jumped in with two feet ever since we've been eliminated. So far, he's working hard enough to make the jump we're hopeful he's going to make." Thompson is also high incoming freshmen Marcus Derrickson and Kaleb Johnson, two perimeter players who have the length to fit the Georgetown mold. Thompson said the 6-7 Derrickson "shot the cover off the ball" this past season at Brewster Academy. Johnson is similar in makeup to former Hoya Jabril Trawick. Thompson also feels veteran forward Reggie Cameron can challenge for minutes because he can make shots.

Who is this John Thompson III character, and why should we take him seriously when he says things like "We've got D'Vauntes coming back as a senior"?

Wow, since Roy's senior year, I do not think III has ever been so confident about a team. I am excited about teh possibilities. That trip to Italy could be huge, I am surprised the NCAA allows that stuff. It is such a big advantage to get so many extra practice sessions and game opportunities in the summer. Glad we can take advantage of it in a year when the team could be very good.

I guess the downside of such trips is that by the end of the year, the team might be pretty tired. I hope they pace themselves.
