I guess if we are looking for more confirmation... Brett Comer @brettcomer_0 · 2m2 minutes ago @dsr43 You hit everyone with a April Fools joke bro? ?? DSR @dsr43 @brettcomer_0 lol they fell for it bro ! Haha I'll see you soon in that league bro ! Don't want our players fraternizing with Florida Gulf Coast players. I mean that isn't even a real school, I've never heard of them. Comer is Trawick's teammate at Portsmouth. He has the ability to make Trawick look really good with his passes.

I think a fifth year guard is very unlikely, if DSR is back taking up 30+ combo guard minutes. Tre should get more time at the point and given the front court depth, Peak must play in the back court. Peak must improve his shot and finishing and if so will be dangerous. A 2015 who may decommit due to a coaching change may work but the only potentially realistic fit is Kenny Williams, but he has not even asked for a release at this point. We still could use a proven over-40% 3-pt shooter. Always a need!

So he never signed with an agent?

The most important question - can he redshirt?

Does this mean Maryland isn't going to DOMINATE THE DC BASKETBALL LANDSCAPE FOREVER AND EVER anymore?

No reason he can't do it.

If there is one thing mildly concerning about this story, it's the apparent lack of communication between DSR and the staff.

Wow. Welcome back to DSR and I'm looking forward to more great moments and performances.
This program--and therefore by extension this conference (and thus cycling back to reinforce it for this program)--is lucky. Hello top 25 ranking. Hello optimistic Sweet Sixteen projections. Hello improved Verizon attendance.
Hello hopes of returning sooner rather than later to perennial top 15 status (who says these were gone already!).
Next year was going to be so critical to rebuilding the league and the program's reputation and to try to capture some form of national relevance. The odds of that happening now with DSR are good!

I'm still a bit uncomfortable celebrating until the school acknowledges the news in some way.
Does anyone know if JTIII was in Indy for the Final Four (like most coaches)? If so, it's not hard to imagine there was a personal meeting with the family at some point....

Here's hoping he didn't completely let his second semester schoolwork go. That or he'd better in the library for the next few weeks.

This whole episode has been really strange Unusual for sure, but I credit someone who has the self-confidence and good sense to recognize when they've made a public mistake and to correct it rather than acknowledge the error. For all we know, he heard what Kevin Braswell had to say about playing overseas, saw the teams and fans descending on his hometown, looked at the mock draft boards, and decided it was worth coming back for one more year. No fault in that--maybe just a bit rash in coming to the decision so quickly.

If so, it's not hard to imagine there was a personal meeting with the family at some point.... I am a bit uncomfortable celebrating as well until I know that this is 100% going to happen as well; I'd also just like the confirmation from JTIII and the University that he hasn't broken any of the rules (perhaps even inadvertently), so as to place his eligibility in question going into next season. Because it does appear that he is coming back, I am happy for him--he has a legitimate chance to be an All-American next year and a top-10 star nationally in terms of upside. Of course, I'm also happy for us as fans because the team will be much, much better with him than without him. If we then swung for the fences and somehow got another guard to shore up our depth all the more we would probably be a legitimate top 10 team. We are most likely a top 15 team with him, and we have some of the highest upside in recent memory.
All that said, this whole situation has been concerning to me, from the fact that the staff seemed completely blindsided by the initial decision to leave, to the fact that the University seemed to close any door to his return, to the fact that he is now coming back and has acknowledged it publicly before the staff has offered any comment at all. Granted, this probably happens to other teams all the time, and I just don't notice the day-to-day drama because it doesn't affect me. But count me as someone who will breathe the ultimate sigh of relief once the University issues a release.

Tough decision for him but selfishly as a fan I'm thrilled that he's decided to come back. Now he'll have a chance to become one of the all time Hoya greats statistically as well as by leading the team to a championship. Add a college degree and a year to polish his NBA qualifications and you've got a great recipe for success. Welcome back!
